Wouldn’t work. The trick, or the joke?

This could be (part of) an intelligence test or a wisdom test.

Intelligence Test: Is a particular subject intelligent enough to be able to read the sign upside down?

Wisdom Test: Is the subject wise enough to know choose whether to and how to follow the sign?

A juicy roast-breast-of-buzzard might tide him over.

But you’ve got to give him credit for at least trying the idea!

Question: Has the sign text written on both sides?

Answer: No, probably not. If that was the case it was no need to turn it upside down…

Some time ago when I was living in Pittsburgh I took a visiting colleague to see the Aviary. A mural on the wall in one of the exhibit dioramas depicted a desert scene. On one part of that wall mural there was a spigot sticking out for watering the plants. My friend pointed it out and said “Oh look. There’s a mirage!”

I have known some people who would simply go in the direction of the arrow, assuming it was a correction.

I recently took some decent pictures of a committee of Turkey Vultures in a tree. They are immensely cool creatures.

    “Was worth a try, though.”

Put up an accurate sign pointing toward life-saving water and write on it FAUCI SAYS WATER.

    For something somewhat similar: https://www.pnj.com/story/opinion/2021/07/26/marlette-cartoon-fauci-and-florida/8070923002/
