I’ve found that if I add some coconut oil to my tofu it makes it much more easier to scrape it off my plate and into the trash.

Since I can’t tolerate much soy, I just stay away from tofu completely.

I was having dinner a few minutes ago, and I came to the conclusion that tofu is really overrated.

It’s just a curd to me.

What can we use instead of tofu?Other Substitutes for Tofu

You can blend nuts like raw cashew nuts, raw almonds, hazelnuts, oats, pumpkin seeds, and peanuts as a soft tofu replacement

I have had some very good BBQ tofu, thanks to a vegetarian friend of mine.

The trick with tofu is to realize that it is not a taste substitute for other food, and to find the flavor profiles that work well with it. Basically, it is a flavor spouge which means that you can do a lot of different things with it, or turn it into a flavorless spouge, which is most people’s experience.

I feel the same way about sushi. Never could see the fascination. I bought some; took it home and cooked it. Tasted just like fish.

If I find it diced small enough in my Hot and Sour Soup, it doesn’t bother me to eat it. If a chunk is big enough to deal with, I deal with it.

My wife is from Korea and she buys it and it sits in the fridge for a while. Then she realizes that she needs to eat it before it goes bad (as if). She knows I won’t touch it. About two years ago we went to Hilo, Hawaii to visit her best friend and we when we dined after arriving, we ate escargot with our meal. It tasted ok, probably because of the sauce but thinking about it, I still think eating them is revolting!

We never eat it. I like beans but making a gelatin substances out of a bean is disgusting. Sort of like trying to make jello out of dish soap. Why?

Plain tofu is not good. It is bland to the max. It requires mixing with other ingredients and proper cooking. The easiest way is to bury it under other flavors and hope the texture has the right “meatiness”.
