Nice thing about having several children – hand-me-downs; and unisex c;othes.

We had three girls, so I would put X’s on the back of the neckband (or waistband for undies) to make it easy to see who was currently wearing a given item. One X for the eldest, two for the middle-kiddle, and three for Short Stuff. SS got a new blouse and I told her to go upstairs and mark it. She put three huge X’s across the front of the blouse! She looked as if she was posing for a mug shot! To this day, she has no idea why she did it that way. She had to wear that blouse with a jumper.

My brother did the same with us grew like a weed and OMG we couldn’t believe how tall he got. My mom was only 5’4 and my dad 5’7 and he was over 6 foot. My grandma said it came from my dad’s side as he was the shortest one in the family and everyone else was over 6 foot and plus.

Gee, only the eldest gets new clothes. Good thing they aren’t all girls with the youngest being a boy. But then again maybe he’d get new clothes. Of course the youngest being a girl here isn’t fair either. What little girl wants to wear ugly worn out T shirts?

There 7 Kids in my family and my youngest brother never ran out of clothes. At least we didn’t wear our sisters’ clothes (they were the oldest}.

A good thing that the first ones are boys. Girls don’t mind boys’ clothes but boys won’t wear girls’ clothes.

It is helpful when the kids accept, rather than resent, hand-me-downs.

Great comic topic. She solves the common problem with a uncommon solution.

I never got anything new. Everything was hand-me-down. But my parents had no money, so hand-me-downs were better than nothing at all.

I don’t know Nick’s sad about, he’s gettin’ new clothes. Of course Mom’s picking them out so they won’t be hip.

I got my sister’s clothes until I outgrew her. I didn’t mind, as new clothes were itchy and uncomfortable until well washed.
