The very first real computer I ever used was an IBM 1950’s era small business computer in college that had a simple user manual. I was instructed to read the manual, but don’t be afraid to try things; You can’t break it. And I found that advice to be the best way to learn and have been using it ever since.

OK, not all of us old folks are inept at using the computer, I had to struggle on my own without the aid of a toddler.
