I remember buying earphones for one of my kids a number of years back. For a few bucks extra, the retailer had a warranty that covered “act of God or act of dog”. Best warranty I ever bought. We must have replaced those earphones half a dozen times within the warranty period – including once when a classmate cut the cord with a pair of scissors (I couldn’t believe that was covered, but it was).
hmm.. according to Betty something that moves and is manipulated all the time has to last forever; how about both. Things get damaged because they are used, but they also may be treated carefully. I already went past the time of using expensive headphones; I am aware that they will not last forever, and their cable will dis-attach (specially in some expensive headphones; expensive does not mean it will last longer), so I just settle with some decent quality (concerning sound output) buds, with springs or something that holds the union of the cables and the buds

Some are practically disposable they’re so cheap. Point him towards some of those.

Looking for earbuds? I’d go with the Sennheiser IE800S. A bargain at only $1,000.

1.) G to eBay and get a cheap replacement while you save for a new pair.2.) Be more careful.

I’m going with shoddy manufacturing — they really don’t last.
