I’m reminded of the scene in the Simpsons, where Homer puts on a “Marge” wig, looks in the mirror and goes “Oh, Homey” in her voice. Then he chuckles and says, “I don’t need her at all anymore!”
Sometimes it is just easier to do it ourselves instead of trying to get someone else to fix it any time soon. The part we really don’t need is the hassle of “so when are you going to get around to fixing it”.

My mom did all the repairs in our home. My dad, early on, figured out the benefit of doing repairs poorly.
