A stronger camel – why didn’t I think of that?

I was stunned by the prices you pay for internet and TV in the US (way too high).

For once I agree with Betty…but don’t expect it to happen again any time soon.

I gave up cable when the monthly bill reached $200. I call that the cinder block that broke the camel’s back.

Doesn’t a “stronger camel” mean more money in this case?

Yeah – I try and put thresholds on some of that stuff. I told my last cable provider that I was leaving them when their bill creeped over $100 a month. So when it did I called to cancel – their response was to try and convince me to subscribe to MORE services because it would be part of a bundle and my rate would only go up a little bit for so much more in features – which I had no interest in. Took me 3 tries to get them to process a cancellation.

Sometimes you gotta balance. I cancelled Netflix (which had crept up in price, and which I rarely watched) for Britbox, which is less expensive and has lots and lots of shows I enjoy watching — plus daily new content (well, soaps, news and game shows each day.)

We dumped cable TV about six years ago. We kept the most basic local cable with phone and internet and added our own Hulu, Netflix. and Disney+. There is still a lot that we don’t watch, but we don’t pay as much not to watch it.
