One time I was visiting in an unfamiliar city and went into a local breakfast cafe. In one corner of the room sat a noisy group of Ham radio experts showing off their portable handheld equipment. They were making calls to faraway friends, and in my mind, being disruptive to other customers. I said nothing until I paid my bill, and then asked the waitress about them. “Oh, they’re here every Sunday for their meetings”, she said. I asked if the other customers didn’t complain about the noise, but she brushed it off.
A couple of months later I was back at the same hotel and went out for breakfast at the same cafe, but they had gone out of business. At least it was quiet.
