BIG NATE: LOVE DOVE Part 15

Gina stared at Nate in complete disbelief. Nate had just finished telling her why all the girls were so head-over-heels for him. “So this is the result of a special gas created by Francis?” she asked. “Yep, with Kelly being the one made him build that stupid contraption in the first place,” Nate growled, “but my question is, why aren’t YOU affected? Do you have a cold?”

“No, I’ve been feeling fine the last few weeks.” Gina said.

“Maybe you’re nose is stuffed.” Nate suggested.

“If that were true, my voice would sound stuffed up as well.”

“Well, its kinda hard to tell.” Nate whispered.

“What was that?” Gina demanded.

“Nothing. We should get together with Francis and figure this out. Maybe it could lead to a cure!” With that, the bell rang, and Nate and Gina walked off to find Francis. “So, about your girlfriend,” Gina began to ask. Nate sighed. “Yeah, we’re back together. She was just worried I’d dump her again.”

“Why did you dump her in the first place?”

“Long story. Let’s just find Francis.”

Soon they found Francis in a small janitor closet, which he had converted into a small lab of sorts. Strapped to a chair with jumprope and duct tape was Kelly, who was struggling violently against her bonds. “Uh, what’s going on?” Nate asked. “Kelly got infected with the gas,” Francis stated matter-of-factly, “and I managed to secure her so I could try and figure out how to counteract the gas, but so far, no luck.”

“Well,” Nate said, casting a glance to Gina, “I’ve brought someone who could help.” Francis looked up at Gina and smiled. “Well looks like the two biggest brains have to work together.” he said. Gina smiled and said, “Let’s show the world how smart I am.” “Uh, I think you mean how smart I am.” Francis said. As two began bantering, Nate shook his head and smiled. With his nemesis and his best friend working together, things would hopefully end soon. TO BE CONTINUED…
