You can get lots of velocity, but there’s also lots of drag relative to the inertia of the ball, so you also get lots of (negative) acceleration and not much impact speed.

Unless you’re Chester, of course.

I was quite the nerd back in the day but I was really good at what we called “suicide”, AKA dodgeball. I was small and fast so I was a much tougher target than other guys and I usually lasted long. I could also catch which allowed other guys to get back in the game. And I could throw sidearm which caused the ball to move differently than thrown overhand so it was harder to catch. There are a bunch of things I didn’t like in P.E. but suicide wasn’t one of them.

Will it ever show Chester? I mean, it has showed his whole body except for his head, but I want to see his head at some point.
