…so all that for a lame gotcha plot twist? As if she wasn’t bothered? Because she clearly was?
What a waste of two weeks. What started as a funny arc turned boring, predictable, mean and now plain stupid. No need to incorporate even a little emotion or development, just a lame punchline.
And yes, I KNOW Big Nate is a comedy strip. I don’t think every week should be a soap opera. But that doesn’t mean every arc has to stick to the same formula. We’ve seen (rare) emotional arcs before, plus the novels proved he could write moments like that if he tried. I’m not asking for some teary conversation, but having Dee Dee’s friends explain to her that she needs to change her acting methods and seeing her exhibit more than just 3 types of jokes for the first time since 2016 (you know, nearly 9 years ago) wouldn’t be the end of the world.
But no. Another lame punchline.
0\10. Hopefully next arc is Christmas themed and actually funny at least.
