Congrats Doc! Hope the mom & babe come through it OK. I feel sorry for the little tyke though. Having a birthday so close to Christmas can be a bummer. My grandfather was born on Christmas day and felt cheated as a kid ‘cause he only got one set of presents.

Good Morning all. A busy day for me. Carpet installers coming today. So afterwards there is the traditional moving back the furniture ceremony. I am getting my tires rotated and I have to pack for our Christmas trip. I’ll just let the servants do it. Yeah…right.

Doc Here’s a good one too!. My one son was born on the 23rd, and my sister AND I was on the 30th 2 years apart! My brother the 11th of Dec and my other sister the 10th of Jan! Oh yeah and my mother on the 24th of Jan. We definitely go broke during the Christmas season!

And I always got the same present for both days!

Doc, I hear you. I was also told my best birthday present was my sister two years later!

Cleo - I’ll take that chicken fried steak with gravy & biscuit, please. Yum! Doc - December was a busy month in my family. My sister was born on the 9th, my folks married on the 12th, Dad was born on the 13th, my oldest brother born on the 14th, my middle brother on the 29th! (You can understand why my mom told me that they would pay for my wedding, IF I got married in any month EXCEPT December!) Most of the birthdays when my siblings were children were celebrated in June on their “half” birthday. It seems like that worked fairly well, as long as they were young enough to really want to celebrate. (I’m the baby, so I don’t remember some of my siblings’ childhoods.)

Oh, I forgot!

(Doc should be happy - I’m trying to scoot out of KS before the blizzard hits here that they’re predicting. Hopefully, it will just be rain - at least until I leave the area.) Does anyone know what the weather is supposed to be along the route through Little Rock, AR, Tupelo, MS & Birmingham, AL for Wednesday? We’ll stay either in Tupelo or Birmingham Wednesday night, depending on how soon we get on the road, and what the weather is like driving.

sorry i ran off last night without saying something. we ate supper and sat down to watch a movie and Ana fell asleep in my arms/lay/on my arm. so i couldnt move. well when we went to bed she woke up go figure. but it was 10 something and i was tired so we were not going to play on here i was going to sleep. well i slept on and off and she played in the bed and jumped on me and such and watched tv then became mad when the movie finished and told her it was bedtime so she goes I wanna go home so i called her mom and she came get her and i slept till 9 and now its sower time and then breakfast and then hopefuly a calll from a friend and ill be out of here. well ill bbl till then dont have to much fun guys

ill be here, kindof, for a bit i miss you guys and my days have been a bit crazy

Rmom & Bmonk, the radar shows it coming from the CO area.

Bmonk, you & I get pretty much the same storms.

bmonk - I’d heard it was still over the Pacific yesterday, but not finding a radar screen of the ocean, I don’t know what part. Maybe what I’m thinking of is the freeze line where it changes from rain into snow. The freeze line in KS will start in the western part of the state first, and move east as the storm progresses. I haven’t looked at a map of KS to see which part will get hit first, just reading the forecast for this part of the state.

I found evidence that Doc is behind this! Here’s a statement from the National Weather Service. (I changed it from all caps so it won’t hurt our eyes to read it.) …Major winter storm will affect the area on Christmas Eve… .a powerful winter storm is expected to take shape over the area Wednesday night and Thursday. This event will start out with rain on Wednesday with even some claps of thunder possible in south central Kansas. The rain will change to snow as cold air moves in from the northwest. As this cold air moves in so will the high wind speeds which could cause whiteout conditions.

I just heard from my cousin that I should watch out for black ice on our drive tomorrow. They got a bunch of rain and then the temps plunged below freezing. A girlfriend of my cousins hit a patch slid into the opposite lane of traffic and hit a concrete barrier. The guy behind her did the same thing and rear ended her after she had crashed. Oh joy of joys!

I am a little late but Booker’s has been served. In a few moments I have to go to the bookmobile so, I will be here off and on for the rest of the evening. I am making dinner and packing. Our carpet looks good. I wish the whole house was done, but we need to remodel the upstairs bathroom and there is no sense in getting new carpet and having carpenters track all over it.

Cleo what is “bookmobile”? Around here it’s a traveling bus that rents and sells books.

Dry our library has a bus that comes every Tuesday to our lake. We can check out books, mags and movies. It saves us driving into town and we can put in requests for books online as well, which they bring out when the book or item is in. It sure is quiet around here.

lol cleo as of now i am. my eye still hurts when i touch it so im not touching it.

Just so anybody who cares, knows, I may have to disappear for awhile. Something REALLY WEIRD is happening. The power has gone out 3 times now, for about 10 seconds, each time I have to rebbot and reset the computer, and anything digital. And when it happens, you can hear an explosion in the distance. It has been happening every hour. Don’t know what the heck is going on, I’d call the light company but you can’t get a REAL LIVE HUMAN BEING TO TALK TO, SO WHAT’S THE POINT!

well i went see walking buddy and get back home im locked out then i aske dad if i can do something tomorrow and he gives me this big speech about driving with Ana in the car “all it takes is one time and thats it” yada yada yada. with her i drive so much safer its crazy. i am just ticked that hes being such a pain again. hes anoying. normaly going to walking buddys helps calm me, but not tonight and getting home didnt make it anybetter. well Ana is sleeping next to me so one more thing to do and ill be back to say goodnight.

Marg, My MIL is doing okay. Her hair is just starting to grow back. I recommended the strawberry Ensure and she likes it, though I think she prefers the vanilla. It is quite cramped, but we’re doing okay and having fun.

hello Tribe a brief stop to say Merry Christmas, as i might be scarce (or scarcer) over the next few days. not going away, at all, just busy. I only read part of page one before jumping ahead to say hello, so i hope everyone is doing well. i saw a post from cleo saying he was going to silver creek, bc and just wanted to say that i may have travelled through the area on my trip in 2008. i googled it and found references to several places i visited (and loved) - though not an actual map reference. it was just beautiful driving through the mountains, and i’ll never forget it.
