Long Day! No time to make breakfast! Who’s driving, who’s riding shotgun? My treat at “Eat and Park” for breakfast! All in say I, cuz I’m outta here real soon, with or without you!
I’m tucked safely under the seat! Wake me when we get there! And if you can’t wake me, get me the eggs, bacon and toast special with their fruit salad! ‘kay?
Ha ha ha! Carmy is driving, better fasten your seatbelts? Well, at least I get us there quick AND safe. You all should have rode with me back from MS. I was scaring the hubby something fierce.
Good Morning Dry, JFri, Terry, Marg and Lewreader!
good morning all. hows it going this morning? i was waiting on a friend to answer about tomorrow, but no answer so what do i do? hummm. grr. no its not walking buddy.
well i have a full day ahead of me and a long week so i am headding out soon. ill bb to say bye shortly. going make a trip around here.
okay all i am caught up on some things. and im going to have to leave you all for a while and get cracking on my house work. blah! wish me luck see u all later on when i get a chance.
I’m so confused. Halloween yesterday, Voting day today; what next. Did I enter the Twilight Zone? I think I’m going to find a quiet place to color my Easter eggs.
Terry, the last tickets I waited in line for was to see Bruce Springsteen. I have waited in line twice for him. I got a chance to meet him in Hawaii once.
Cleo, I have only waited in line for sports tickets…….once for the Bears during their Super Bowl year and the Blackhawks during one of the Bobby Hull/Stan Mikita years. For concerts I was lucky enough to always have someone get them for me.
If I have a choice in a line to wait in, I almost always choose the wrong one. Yesterday when crossing the border, I chose the line with the shortest line of cars in it. When my turn came, they had a change of border officials and they held up their hand signaling me to wait. I watched three cars go through the line next to me before I was waved through. This was after waiting for at least 45 minutes just to approach the crossing.
Christmas was…interesting. With the blizzard, I had more time off for a few days than I expected–but the end of the blizzard meant that I had to run around and get ready for the Holy Family Sunday…no fun to write a homily and all the rest at the last minute. But, for once I actually got to be at Christmas Morning Prayer and breakfast with the rest of the community, and the same on Sunday.
No, I didn’t think the snow would get cleared enough for anyone to get her on Sunday–so I didn’t take the time to prepare it before. Only one service that day, and the two on Christmas Eve, instead of the regular four for each…
That’s a lot of services bmonk. I was with my mother this Christmas, for a service at 8:00p.m. Only two Christmas Eve and one or two Christmas morning. We had ice, not snow.
Well, the rural people didn’t make it, of course, once the Blizzard set in late on the 24th. The townsfolk (about 1/4 normal) made it for Christmas day. Nobody Sat morning or evening, and I didn’t even try to make it out for the missions (couldn’t get out of the garage…), but it quit Saturday about 6 p.m., and they evidently plowed most of the night. We now have some pretty impressive snow piles, from some pretty impressive snow drifts. I know of at least 2-3 windows and as many doors entirely covered–but also two doors that had not a bit of snow at them. Our Church has three doors in a row; two had no snow or drifting; the third (just six feet away) had 4 or 5 feet of snow against it, extending out 20-30 feet.
So, as you know, when the snow is moving horizontally, you hunker down and wait it out, if you possibly can.
@cleo, you could try making it even worse by switching lanes, like in a stop-and-go expressway. I once watched one fellow work his way backwards quiet a few car-lengths by switching to the lane that was moving–just as it quit and the one he had left started going again.
bmonk that guy in the car changing lanes was me. LOL
The storm sounds like what I used to remember in Walhalla. We had drifts up to the second floor window in an old house with high ceilings.
Thanks MoPar. I had to go back. I missed the song. That’s a lovely song.
And I was kidding too. I didn’t see what I had written.
Speaking of typos, yesterday at the retirement home, we had salmon on a bum for lunch. Boy, did the staff ever have red faces when we pointed the menu out to them. Lots of laughter too!
The nice thing about metric wrenches is that if you need a larger size you just go from a 14 to 15 and so on. With the American stuff, you hafta go 7/16 to 1/2 to 9/16 to 5/8 and so on. Still it is OK if it is consistent. When you think it is metric and it is standard, the wrench sometimes will almost fit and then when you put torque on it it slips, you bust a knuckle, and then you hafta say those ugly words. :-)
truth be told, i do not try to keep up anymore. i was hoping that when i went on break i could keep up, but i think i did more keeping up in school then i do now, i am sorry.
so all i got done today was clothes. :(
ana came over… well lets start from the begining shall we?
first off Anas mom calls me as i am about to walk out the door to go do what i have to do. well she wants me to go over and stay with ana and the phone so when the dryer guy calls i can tell him whats wrong and how to get to the house. well i tell her i have stuff to do and she pulls the guilt trip on me so i go watch ana that takes her an hour to go to the bank and back so anoying. well took me about ten mins to get out the house bc ana was crying to come and her mom talking to me. had to rush to the store stand in the return line at walmart for anas mom then go buy me a pillow and also go to the bank pick up some lunch and be back by 1 to get ana at 130. well i rushed and rushed get it all done some how the bank messes with my brain, i putt money in and i have less then i put in in my account? what the heck?? anyways i get home and its 12:30 go me a whole 30 mins b4 i needed to be home i think yes im gonna get things done, ha ha funny i sat down and ate lunch with my dog best company ever. then my phone rings. its anas mom telling me she doesnt have to be at work till 3 so no need to rush. well 10 mins latter my phone rings again. its ana this time and shes crying and begging to come over here. her mom tells me she wants me and has been crying since i left. i know the truth is that she wanted the kid out the house bc anas dad was there for the first time since christmas. let minds wonder where they may so i got ana early and she wanted to do fireworks bc Walking buddys grandkids were doing them so we poped some and played with the kids for a little while. she is now at the table with play dogh having a blast and im finisheing the clothes. so i just stoped bye to say hi and peace and love and see who was here.
I had to laugh when I read your post about the two different sizes on that belt tensioner. I know it very well because they didn’t change it for many years. Even though I know I need two different wrenches, I always forget and get a wee bit upset. Mechanics bring all the tools needed to the car and when there is another one needed we don’t like it! LOL
The only peoblem I’ve ever had with that part is when the main bolt “freezes” in the bracket. That’s only happened a couple of times, but it’s a bear to repair.
Hello all. Welcome JNJ2. I got all my furniture put away. So the house is once again looking “normal”, at least until my wife comes up with another project.
Thanks cleo. It will be clear and sunny, so that is good. It will be -22 oC without the windchill- not so good. Luckily, being Canadian and from a colder latitude anyways, I have everything I need to keep warm: a down jacket, hood, hat, scarf, isotoner gloves AND thermal mitts to go over them, windproof slacks and warm fuzzy-lined suede boots.
shika i just read that you are leaving again :0( i sad now. :0( hurry back and be safe.
i have thought of changing my number before mainly bc my mom wont stop calling me all the time. but then ill have to learn a new number and tell all my friends (not like its alot but still)
Hi Tabby! I was in MS. We got home late Friday night. Since then I have been a bum, staying up late and sleeping late. How are you doing sweetie? I see you have been very busy. Hope you get some time for yourself soon.
i am the self professed “Master of All Trivia” at least as far as family and friends are concerned. a co-worker and i played the game of “identifying musical groups and artists whose name includes a place name” for 2 and a half days before i finally won. you can try to imagine how many different names we came up with. i generally just do crosswords and the occasional sudoku. i’ll see the jumble when i visit Dad, because he always asks for help to complete the crossword in his daily paper when i visit. however, i usually just do it in my head. i guess it’s what happens when you have an unbelievably large vocabularty. how are you tonight?
Hi Cleo! I missed you. I hope you had a lovely holiday!
yyyguy, I am doing okay, thank you. I usually do the jumble in my head also. I like trivia because I learn a lot from it. Knowledge is power!
i love getting the glazed look of “how do you know so much?” from people, but it’s a fine line between that look and the kind of reaction a certain other bearded commenter (on other strips) gets. fortunately, i (usually) know when to draw the line.
Carmy “poor Ana”? what poor tabby is more like it. Ana is fine we are just butting heads more then normal. and its like this bc her mom gave her everythign she wanted for 4 days straight. shes mine now so i have say so on what happens and goes on. ha ha. i got dads paddel down as a fear factor for her, we havent used it on her only our hands and once a paint paddel but shes scared of it and she straightens up. well she was just so anoyed and crazy the paddel didnt even strike fear into her. ahhhhhh i tell you crazy.
hi again Tabby
show her my photo and tell her you know Santa Claus personally.
i let a co-worker take a photo last year to show his kids, and he said it worked a bit.
Yguy LOL shes only 3, i tried telling her santa wont bring her gifts if shes bad, she didnt get it. thanks for the suggestion and ill keep it in mind. :)
Tabby, I’m sorry, i didn’t catch your comment about Ana. I know what you’re talking about. She wants you to let her do whatever she wants, like her mom does.
Carmy and Tabby I HEARD THAT! Take your snowflake fairies and put them in YOUR respecctive states, not MINE! I have enough snowflake fairies for a lifetime, thank you very much! :-D
Terry for future reference, DON’T WANNA HEAR IT, DON’T CARE! SAVE YOURSELF, unless you want this FHIG coming after you with one of Carmy’s machetes! I’m sure you know to which I speak of! * :-P*
So Anas mom just cracked me up big time. dad asked her over a month ago to call the parish to come bring him some gravel. shes always at work when they are “open” and we do stuff for her. she asked why he could not cal i told her he works during the time all she heard was tha he works. she busted out with i work too! ” i work two jobs i go to work and i raise a 3 year old” so guess what part made me laugh?
Hi Marg and Dry! I can’t believe da Bears won that game!
Tabby, My girls like Anastasia. I’ve seen it several times.

Good Morning bmonk & Shika.

Hi Tabby! I was in MS. We got home late Friday night. Since then I have been a bum, staying up late and sleeping late. How are you doing sweetie? I see you have been very busy. Hope you get some time for yourself soon.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
I am glad you are home, be a bum you deserve it. ill have to chat latter on once i get her to shut up.
she is crying.
carmy almost 15 years ago

yyyguy almost 15 years ago
hi Carmy & Tabby and i hope Shika has a good trip. (i’ll say it that way because i don’t think she’ll see it until much later - if at all.)
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hi yyyguy! I haven’t had a chance to do any puzzles for a long time. I used to do crosswords, jumbles and sudoku. I also like to do trivia games.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Howdy yyyguy & Carmy. I am about to watch a movie. Hope all is well with you both.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
i am the self professed “Master of All Trivia” at least as far as family and friends are concerned. a co-worker and i played the game of “identifying musical groups and artists whose name includes a place name” for 2 and a half days before i finally won. you can try to imagine how many different names we came up with. i generally just do crosswords and the occasional sudoku. i’ll see the jumble when i visit Dad, because he always asks for help to complete the crossword in his daily paper when i visit. however, i usually just do it in my head. i guess it’s what happens when you have an unbelievably large vocabularty. how are you tonight?
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
hi cleo enjoy your movie, i watched “Fitzwilly” yesterday (taped from TCM last week).
carmy almost 15 years ago
Hi Cleo! I missed you. I hope you had a lovely holiday! yyyguy, I am doing okay, thank you. I usually do the jumble in my head also. I like trivia because I learn a lot from it. Knowledge is power!
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
i love getting the glazed look of “how do you know so much?” from people, but it’s a fine line between that look and the kind of reaction a certain other bearded commenter (on other strips) gets. fortunately, i (usually) know when to draw the line.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
okay i am back.
Carmy “poor Ana”? what poor tabby is more like it. Ana is fine we are just butting heads more then normal. and its like this bc her mom gave her everythign she wanted for 4 days straight. shes mine now so i have say so on what happens and goes on. ha ha. i got dads paddel down as a fear factor for her, we havent used it on her only our hands and once a paint paddel but shes scared of it and she straightens up. well she was just so anoyed and crazy the paddel didnt even strike fear into her. ahhhhhh i tell you crazy.
carmy almost 15 years ago
yyyguy, I know to whom you are referring ;) I rarely get the “glazed look,” but when I do, it’s fun.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago

yyyguy almost 15 years ago

carmy almost 15 years ago
Tabby, I’m sorry, i didn’t catch your comment about Ana. I know what you’re talking about. She wants you to let her do whatever she wants, like her mom does.

tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
So Anas mom just cracked me up big time. dad asked her over a month ago to call the parish to come bring him some gravel. shes always at work when they are “open” and we do stuff for her. she asked why he could not cal i told her he works during the time all she heard was tha he works. she busted out with i work too! ” i work two jobs i go to work and i raise a 3 year old” so guess what part made me laugh?
margueritem almost 15 years ago
Tabby, The part about raising the three year old.
yyyguy almost 15 years ago
