Hello ♥Kab♥ - Tomorrow may be okay, depends on when it starts. Last I saw was freezing rain tomorrow night (hopfully not sooner). Tuesday and Wednesday look bad though.
I remember one year long before that most recent ice storm came. We lived in a small town. Middle of winter. Two towns lost power. Driver slid on ice hit a power line knocked tow towns out of power. Every place dark. All could done go to bed early.
More recent one major towns went out of power. Like this system coming massive.
According to local forecast Suppose to start sometime tonight. I hope it waits. Location I live at is emergency roads. I have been very surprise how well the emergency route and hwy stays clean.
Okay Big Sister I’ll see if I can find candy for your sweet tooth. You just want chocolate?
We here have been doing fruit smoothies. This also helps since I need to get rid of lot of body fat. I hope I’m on the verge of shedding another hard to get rid of pound.
You member that last freezing rain that came? I left work at 5pm and the light rain was starting then. I almost didn’t get my door open. Pancky! I had a drink in thermos use this and poored over top of door then used key to remove the ice. I also like others I notice didn’t rush getting in. After 5:30 closer to 5:45 just glazed over.
Hi, Kab! - It is supposed to start around midnight here. I hope you have some de-icer to use if you need it.
My hubby may drive back tonight, to get there before the ice hits. Not looking forward to this!
I may be mixed up on my time. Now that I’ve been thinking about it, the freezing starts tonight and then has a calm period tomorrow (afternoon?) and then the snow is Monday night through Tuesday. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
Up on the tundra, we will avoid the rain/freezing rain by cleverly staying below zero temp until Wed. Of course, with 100% chance of snow this afternoon and evening (up from 20% predicted Friday), and 70% tomorrow, we will get the regularly scheduled installment of snow for the week.
I’d rather have this weather than freezing rain and ice, so I feel for you guys, Rmom and Sojo. (Oh, and ♥Kab♥ too!)
Who has been messing with the weather? 2 days ago was springlike and nice and warm, yesterday was much cooler and today is very cold, windy and snowing. BOOO. It is supposed to warm up by the middle of the week. I HOPE SO.
That is the my understanding. AM rough going for traffic.
After getting spoiled on nice warm weather, I just hope driver’s remember.
I guess early this morning, not sure exact time, on HWY 235 little N of 25th, a car hit a railing and flipped on top. Tow truck already there, also state troupers. I know nothing of the driver. Roads at the time were dry.
By all means, give Oooops all the candy she wants. As for me I want to hibernate until this weather smartens up and stays warm. Summer can’t come any too soon.
I’m just glad Kab found some virtual candy to give to Ooops! I’d love to hibernate for the next several days, but unless they cancel tomorrow night’s class, I may have to get out in this nasty stuff. Wouldn’t you know, we forgot to buy milk when we were in town today? Good thing the boys are old enough where it won’t hurt them to go a few days without it.
I have forgotten Rmom what subject’s are you taking.
I have my daughter helping me a little. Soon I hope be done with rough parts and on to what I know more of. When I did the pretest, I wished I had passed all, there are some I don’t have to repeat.
Kab - My guys insist on Braums milk. There are a couple convenience stores plus a tiny grocery store about 3 miles away, but no Braums.
I’m taking a class on Microsoft Office.
Thanks Kab for the lovely table full of candy. We had better get a net ready to “catch” Ooops as she dashes by on some mission-or-other. so she won’t miss the candy.
Rmom thanks for NOAA map but NO thanks for the message on our county…even my town is listed in the 8-12 …of course that is better than 12-18! *: )
That is a fun class Microsoft Office Rmom. I will be having in the future computer class. I’m also thinking of Medical Transcription. This will be a very difficult class. Not sure if Medical Encoding is needed much. Doctors can electronic send to medical insurance. And with medical insurance provider’s raising their rates not sure if public will afford this. No jobs no insurance coverage.
For some the snow won’t matter. My mom has been worried about because of mail. She doesn’t need to work just inside the house. This system the national weather showed is huge covering several states including OK. from part of west to east .
The place I work at the Admin Assist has a radio and during spring time I don’t look forward to this when a system comes, alarms start sounding. I got caught there a few times, hubby preferred I wait until the storm moved on. One did damage at a property nearby. Could see the path one tornado took.
Were you the one talking about radiators used for heating with steam? I found them to be a wonderful invention when we lived in London for a fall-winter semester. Quiet and clean and the air wasn’t dry.
Kab - I can’t say I like the spring storms, but in a way, I prefer them to the ice storms. At least those are over quickly, and your actual odds of being impacted are pretty small.
True. Place we used to live we were sandwich a lot. Storm was either south of us in Sumner county going east or north of 400 to 21st street moving east. When storms were by Kingman area then we did start worring.
bmonk where I work at wish that could be done, but can’t, there is a lot of static charges. I touch doors to help but I still get shocked.
Well I think I hogged this site a little too long. Let you all have your visit.
I need to clean up and read while hair dry’s.
The old cast-iron radiators worked well even when they got the air dry–just fill a pot or bowl with water and perch it on the top as a make-shift humidifier.
bmonk - I have very dry skin, so I have to do something to add moisture in the winter. I’ve got a humidifier, because having a pot of water on the stove is more expensive. I do remember my in-laws’ house seemed to have condensation on the inside of the windows almost all the time. It might have been at least partially due to having single pane windows, we’ve always had storm windows or double pane.
We used to know someone few years ago. The lady told me place they lived there was a barn. When the weather turned bad a tonado would come and tear the barn down. They rebuilt that barn same place. Years later another tonado came same results. This time they change location of that barn. The barn was speared but saw that path the tornado took.
Now Haysville has been the center of tornado hits. So has Goddard. Depends on the way the system is heading. Towards OK and KS by Medicine Lodge/Attica, then Harper, sure bet will miss us north of K42.
What a winter! Kab we are supposed to start getting the drizzle on Monday morning after “rush hour” It may be coming from the North (?) down to you but not sure.
Rmom I don’t remember the music to the song or even if I heard it but it makes a clever subject. My brother hangs a kettle filled with water in his large fireplace. Have no idea if it humidifys or not. It IS at the entrance area. How about that bmonk
Take care, KAB I will check in tomorrow as we are staying put.
Last night around midnight several of the roads in my area were closed off. Possibly as a result of a crash, or maybe the police were trying to catch some weekend warrior drinkers.
♪Hopeandjoy♫ I believe, yuk, ice will start early Monday, I guess depends on that sibrian express coming. I dread the next few days. Little Sister that made we want to know to? Some times if a vehicle hits a power line we don’t know, we think a squirrel or some animal got to it and shorted the system out.
“Nothing we can do about the weather,” some “wise” soul observed, so guess we will do our best. At least I don’t have to work a night shift at the hospital anymore!
For my part and I say this happily. I’m am having no pain in my right shoulder or arm. When the first system came through I believe in November I did have a hurting on my right arm deep in the muscle that then moved to my neck. Since these other systems came and went I feel okay. So that surgery on the rotor cuff helped. I will be finishing the muscle meds this spring. Then finished with the pain specialist in July I hope.
With this, talk on. I’m almost ready to turn in. I can’t do anything about what is coming. Just nestle down in a nice warm comfortable bed.
It looks like the artic weather is currently in the Dakotas and Minnesota. It’s getting into Nebraska & Iowa, so it is heading this way, but we’ve got a few more hours before it gets really nasty here.
Lil’ Sis - At least my hubby drove to his trailer tonight, instead of waiting until 4 am like he normally does on Mondays, and he’s safely there now. He has propane if his electricity goes out, so he’s in good shape for a power outage. We’ve gone through power outages during ice storms here more than once before, so even though it isn’t fun, I know we can handle it.
Lil’ Sis - That is one advantage with it being a 5th wheel trailer. They are designed for camping, so they can get by without needing to be plugged in. He might need to go buy a snow shovel, unless he took one from here.

It could of been a car accident or a fluke that caused it. Weather doesn’t usually cause problems but with this storm it might. I hope not!

I’m not looking to driving next two days.
George Arnold almost 14 years ago
Hello ♥Kab♥ - Tomorrow may be okay, depends on when it starts. Last I saw was freezing rain tomorrow night (hopfully not sooner). Tuesday and Wednesday look bad though.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago

Good evening, Kab & LuvH8

If freezing rain starts before you get home tomorrow that would cause problems. Hope it waits long enough that Monday is okay for you ♥Kab♥.
George Arnold almost 14 years ago
Hello Ooops! - Sorry, not much here!
LittleSister18 almost 14 years ago
It’s raining.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
You member that last freezing rain that came? I left work at 5pm and the light rain was starting then. I almost didn’t get my door open. Pancky! I had a drink in thermos use this and poored over top of door then used key to remove the ice. I also like others I notice didn’t rush getting in. After 5:30 closer to 5:45 just glazed over.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
Wolfie - I’m glad too! I don’t know if changing the dose of my meds fixed it, or whether it went away on its own, but I’m glad to be able to function.

Hi, Kab! - It is supposed to start around midnight here. I hope you have some de-icer to use if you need it. My hubby may drive back tonight, to get there before the ice hits. Not looking forward to this!
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
Big Sister how’s this for your sweet tooth and for anyone else. Enjoy!!
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
Rmom I’m not either. I have brand new tires. Since we have a hwy not far from us. Look see how driver’s handle ice. Bridge to with the hwy.

Hi, ♥Kab♥, Rmom, Oooooops!!! & Sojo!
No good, Ooooooops!!!, I seem to be all out of candy.
I have some nice orange quarters if you want. Blood Oranges, or regular.
I was going to say: I’ve sung for my supper, and then had the supper, and now I’m back. For a while at least.
George Arnold almost 14 years ago
I may be mixed up on my time. Now that I’ve been thinking about it, the freezing starts tonight and then has a calm period tomorrow (afternoon?) and then the snow is Monday night through Tuesday. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
bmonk almost 14 years ago
Up on the tundra, we will avoid the rain/freezing rain by cleverly staying below zero temp until Wed. Of course, with 100% chance of snow this afternoon and evening (up from 20% predicted Friday), and 70% tomorrow, we will get the regularly scheduled installment of snow for the week.
I’d rather have this weather than freezing rain and ice, so I feel for you guys, Rmom and Sojo. (Oh, and ♥Kab♥ too!)
serenasakitty almost 14 years ago
Who has been messing with the weather? 2 days ago was springlike and nice and warm, yesterday was much cooler and today is very cold, windy and snowing. BOOO. It is supposed to warm up by the middle of the week. I HOPE SO.
bmonk almost 14 years ago
@serena, some folk around here agree. They thought after this last week that Winter was about over. (Yeah, RIGHT!) They know better now.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
Little Sister I missed you nice see you back again. Another busy week for you.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
That is the my understanding. AM rough going for traffic. After getting spoiled on nice warm weather, I just hope driver’s remember. I guess early this morning, not sure exact time, on HWY 235 little N of 25th, a car hit a railing and flipped on top. Tow truck already there, also state troupers. I know nothing of the driver. Roads at the time were dry.
George Arnold almost 14 years ago
Maybe the weather is acting up because Ooops! hasn’t gotten her candy fix.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
She could be eatting what I provided if the right type, hmmm!
bmonk almost 14 years ago
@Sojo, maybe that’s it! (I sure hope not!) ROFL!
If that’s the case, I may even be willing to drive to the nearest store for some candy for her.
On second thought, not even that will get me out tonight.
serenasakitty almost 14 years ago
By all means, give Oooops all the candy she wants. As for me I want to hibernate until this weather smartens up and stays warm. Summer can’t come any too soon.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
What happen to Big Sister anyway? I thought I helped her on that sweet tooth.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
Kab - I didn’t see that wreck on the news. They don’t update their internet sites as much on the weekends, so it will probably be up tomorrow.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
I’m just glad Kab found some virtual candy to give to Ooops! I’d love to hibernate for the next several days, but unless they cancel tomorrow night’s class, I may have to get out in this nasty stuff. Wouldn’t you know, we forgot to buy milk when we were in town today? Good thing the boys are old enough where it won’t hurt them to go a few days without it.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
I have forgotten Rmom what subject’s are you taking. I have my daughter helping me a little. Soon I hope be done with rough parts and on to what I know more of. When I did the pretest, I wished I had passed all, there are some I don’t have to repeat.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
Rmom where you live at isn’t there a place close enough to get milk?
The medicine perscription the doctor assigned me, I beleive is helping, my nasal is easing.
Everyone help yourself. Wonder what happened to Big Sister sorry I mean Oooops!*
LittleSister18 almost 14 years ago
Pretty much every day of the week is busy for me, but I’m still going to make time for everyone.

Anybody know if there was a song called Steam Heat? Not sure if it referred to the heat registers or not……but the title sounds familiar somehow.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
Kab - My guys insist on Braums milk. There are a couple convenience stores plus a tiny grocery store about 3 miles away, but no Braums. I’m taking a class on Microsoft Office.
hopeandjoy2 almost 14 years ago
Thanks Kab for the lovely table full of candy. We had better get a net ready to “catch” Ooops as she dashes by on some mission-or-other. so she won’t miss the candy.
Rmom thanks for NOAA map but NO thanks for the message on our county…even my town is listed in the 8-12 …of course that is better than 12-18! *: )
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
Hope&Joy - I can understand! I like the map, but I’m not thrilled with the NOAA reports we’re getting either.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
That is a fun class Microsoft Office Rmom. I will be having in the future computer class. I’m also thinking of Medical Transcription. This will be a very difficult class. Not sure if Medical Encoding is needed much. Doctors can electronic send to medical insurance. And with medical insurance provider’s raising their rates not sure if public will afford this. No jobs no insurance coverage.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
For some the snow won’t matter. My mom has been worried about because of mail. She doesn’t need to work just inside the house. This system the national weather showed is huge covering several states including OK. from part of west to east .
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
The place I work at the Admin Assist has a radio and during spring time I don’t look forward to this when a system comes, alarms start sounding. I got caught there a few times, hubby preferred I wait until the storm moved on. One did damage at a property nearby. Could see the path one tornado took.
bmonk almost 14 years ago
I like the NOAA site too–but I keep thinking I should find a site with better forecasts!
;^jhopeandjoy2 almost 14 years ago
I agree with you on that, bmonk for now.
Were you the one talking about radiators used for heating with steam? I found them to be a wonderful invention when we lived in London for a fall-winter semester. Quiet and clean and the air wasn’t dry.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
Kab - I can’t say I like the spring storms, but in a way, I prefer them to the ice storms. At least those are over quickly, and your actual odds of being impacted are pretty small.
George Arnold almost 14 years ago
Hi and Bye Doctor Toon.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
Remember we are still in winter;( Feburary is coming.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
True. Place we used to live we were sandwich a lot. Storm was either south of us in Sumner county going east or north of 400 to 21st street moving east. When storms were by Kingman area then we did start worring.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
bmonk where I work at wish that could be done, but can’t, there is a lot of static charges. I touch doors to help but I still get shocked. Well I think I hogged this site a little too long. Let you all have your visit. I need to clean up and read while hair dry’s.
bmonk almost 14 years ago
Hopeandjoy♫, it might well have been me.
The old cast-iron radiators worked well even when they got the air dry–just fill a pot or bowl with water and perch it on the top as a make-shift humidifier.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
Hope&Joy - Your memory’s right!
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
bmonk - I have very dry skin, so I have to do something to add moisture in the winter. I’ve got a humidifier, because having a pot of water on the stove is more expensive. I do remember my in-laws’ house seemed to have condensation on the inside of the windows almost all the time. It might have been at least partially due to having single pane windows, we’ve always had storm windows or double pane.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
Kab - Even the weather people have noticed that the storms tend to take about the same path. I’ve heard the explanation, but forgot it.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
Now with this artic system coming OK and our location will see that icy rain then snow.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
We used to know someone few years ago. The lady told me place they lived there was a barn. When the weather turned bad a tonado would come and tear the barn down. They rebuilt that barn same place. Years later another tonado came same results. This time they change location of that barn. The barn was speared but saw that path the tornado took. Now Haysville has been the center of tornado hits. So has Goddard. Depends on the way the system is heading. Towards OK and KS by Medicine Lodge/Attica, then Harper, sure bet will miss us north of K42.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
I just read that Chicago is to get 20+ inches, so sounds like Wolfie will have more than we get, at least he likes snow.
hopeandjoy2 almost 14 years ago
What a winter! Kab we are supposed to start getting the drizzle on Monday morning after “rush hour” It may be coming from the North (?) down to you but not sure.
Rmom I don’t remember the music to the song or even if I heard it but it makes a clever subject. My brother hangs a kettle filled with water in his large fireplace. Have no idea if it humidifys or not. It IS at the entrance area. How about that bmonk
Take care, KAB I will check in tomorrow as we are staying put.
LittleSister18 almost 14 years ago
Don’t you all just love the winter.
Last night around midnight several of the roads in my area were closed off. Possibly as a result of a crash, or maybe the police were trying to catch some weekend warrior drinkers.
hopeandjoy2 almost 14 years ago
Rmom I am glad LoneW likes snow because he will have plenty to share!
I like snow when it is falling as long as we are safe and if someone takes care of the shoveling but ice is just BAD!
hopeandjoy2 almost 14 years ago
HummmLittle Sis our messages are hopscotching again. Were the roads o.k. or was it the people on them as you suggested?
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
♪Hopeandjoy♫ I believe, yuk, ice will start early Monday, I guess depends on that sibrian express coming. I dread the next few days. Little Sister that made we want to know to? Some times if a vehicle hits a power line we don’t know, we think a squirrel or some animal got to it and shorted the system out.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
These comments feel like the weather channel on its own. Most of us will let all know.
hopeandjoy2 almost 14 years ago
“Nothing we can do about the weather,” some “wise” soul observed, so guess we will do our best. At least I don’t have to work a night shift at the hospital anymore!
COWBOY7 almost 14 years ago
I am looking forward to the snow that is headed our way. But like you all, I totally have no nice words for ice in the winter!
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
For my part and I say this happily. I’m am having no pain in my right shoulder or arm. When the first system came through I believe in November I did have a hurting on my right arm deep in the muscle that then moved to my neck. Since these other systems came and went I feel okay. So that surgery on the rotor cuff helped. I will be finishing the muscle meds this spring. Then finished with the pain specialist in July I hope. With this, talk on. I’m almost ready to turn in. I can’t do anything about what is coming. Just nestle down in a nice warm comfortable bed.
LittleSister18 almost 14 years ago
I am not sure because their was a lot of police cars with flashing lights.

It looks like the artic weather is currently in the Dakotas and Minnesota. It’s getting into Nebraska & Iowa, so it is heading this way, but we’ve got a few more hours before it gets really nasty here.
LittleSister18 almost 14 years ago
I just hope that everything will be okay for you and your family Rmom.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
Lil’ Sis - At least my hubby drove to his trailer tonight, instead of waiting until 4 am like he normally does on Mondays, and he’s safely there now. He has propane if his electricity goes out, so he’s in good shape for a power outage. We’ve gone through power outages during ice storms here more than once before, so even though it isn’t fun, I know we can handle it.
LittleSister18 almost 14 years ago
That’s a relief. I’m glad to hear that your hubby is safe. and that he is prepared for any outages.
Smiley Rmom almost 14 years ago
Lil’ Sis - That is one advantage with it being a 5th wheel trailer. They are designed for camping, so they can get by without needing to be plugged in. He might need to go buy a snow shovel, unless he took one from here.
