    or is that: CALLOU-CALLAY!

    Ooops! said, 1 holiday ago

No…… these are the people who go to church almost every week, pretty much ignore the service (or perhaps are somewhere else for that part) and mainly just socialize. They will pretty much go to any church as long as they know people there. (you know the people dozing, texting, intently reading the book they are hiding, passing notes, whispering, etc)

We don’t have many like that in our Churches–but they do sound like many students I have known in class…

By the way: No trick-or-treat for you! Not even if it’s a cute gif.

Not saying that Wichita couldn’t lose power due to an ice storm, because it has happened, but I’m more at risk than they, because we’re at the end of the line. We’ve been told that they work on the lines that affect the most people first, which I can understand. Our internet comes via an antenna with a direct sight line to the tower about 3 miles away. Whenever our antenna ices up, we lose our internet. The tower can also have weather-related problems.

@Rmom, I remember one ice storm when I was in DC–we learned that the Abbey & its school where I was staying got power from three directions. They restored the power to the school first, so the school could open and the kids get back to work–but then they had to restore it to the abbey buildings too, because that’s where the boilers to heat the school were. Otherwise, we’d probably have had to wait at least a few more days for the power.

bmonk - Yes, the electricity is needed for blowers, etc. That’s one of the things I try to keep in mind when I look at buying a house - is there an alternate heat source that will work without electricity? I can survive without a/c, at least in the summer, there’s usually a breeze if you open windows. But the power outages in the winter are harder to tough out without some form of heat.

Hi, ♥Kab♥, Rmom, Oooooops!!! & Sojo!

No good, Ooooooops!!!, I seem to be all out of candy.

I have some nice orange quarters if you want. Blood Oranges, or regular.

I was going to say: I’ve sung for my supper, and then had the supper, and now I’m back. For a while at least.

I may be mixed up on my time. Now that I’ve been thinking about it, the freezing starts tonight and then has a calm period tomorrow (afternoon?) and then the snow is Monday night through Tuesday. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.

Up on the tundra, we will avoid the rain/freezing rain by cleverly staying below zero temp until Wed. Of course, with 100% chance of snow this afternoon and evening (up from 20% predicted Friday), and 70% tomorrow, we will get the regularly scheduled installment of snow for the week.

I’d rather have this weather than freezing rain and ice, so I feel for you guys, Rmom and Sojo. (Oh, and ♥Kab♥ too!)

That is the my understanding. AM rough going for traffic. After getting spoiled on nice warm weather, I just hope driver’s remember. I guess early this morning, not sure exact time, on HWY 235 little N of 25th, a car hit a railing and flipped on top. Tow truck already there, also state troupers. I know nothing of the driver. Roads at the time were dry.

Not sure if Medical Encoding is needed much. Doctors can electronic send to medical insurance. And with medical insurance provider’s raising their rates not sure if public will afford this. The place I work at the Admin Assist has a radio and during spring time I don’t look forward to this when a system comes, alarms start sounding. I got caught there a few times, hubby preferred I wait until the storm moved on. One did damage at a property nearby. Could see the path one tornado took.

bmonk - I have very dry skin, so I have to do something to add moisture in the winter. I’ve got a humidifier, because having a pot of water on the stove is more expensive. I do remember my in-laws’ house seemed to have condensation on the inside of the windows almost all the time. It might have been at least partially due to having single pane windows, we’ve always had storm windows or double pane.

We used to know someone few years ago. The lady told me place they lived there was a barn. When the weather turned bad a tonado would come and tear the barn down. They rebuilt that barn same place. Years later another tonado came same results. This time they change location of that barn. The barn was speared but saw that path the tornado took. Now Haysville has been the center of tornado hits. So has Goddard. Depends on the way the system is heading. Towards OK and KS by Medicine Lodge/Attica, then Harper, sure bet will miss us north of K42.

For my part and I say this happily. I’m am having no pain in my right shoulder or arm. When the first system came through I believe in November I did have a hurting on my right arm deep in the muscle that then moved to my neck. Since these other systems came and went I feel okay. So that surgery on the rotor cuff helped. I will be finishing the muscle meds this spring. Then finished with the pain specialist in July I hope. With this, talk on. I’m almost ready to turn in. I can’t do anything about what is coming. Just nestle down in a nice warm comfortable bed.

Lil’ Sis - At least my hubby drove to his trailer tonight, instead of waiting until 4 am like he normally does on Mondays, and he’s safely there now. He has propane if his electricity goes out, so he’s in good shape for a power outage. We’ve gone through power outages during ice storms here more than once before, so even though it isn’t fun, I know we can handle it.
