Actually I think she put a restraining order on me, but I don’t remember as that was in my past drinking days
In honor of WINK, I will eat everything on the menu to help with my annual hibernation.
Kab - I hear the main problem is bridges, elevated roadways and windshields. I keep wondering what the weather will be like by the time I need to leave for school.
The news weatherman shows Wichita east is the border line. Heavy concentration for Tuesday. Weather shows will get heavy snow, further east higher amounts.
Just check the menu below your bed, Wink. Little Sister and the others will take care of your food needs for the WHOLE winter!
G’mornin’ Kab. Sounds like the weather system that slid through my area Friday night/Saturday has gotten down your way. Temperatures went from almost up to freezing, and tonight they’re predicting -33ºC for a low here. Add a bit of wind and we could have wind chill down in the -40s.
Time to run past the buffet for a grilled cheese sandwich and one of Big Sister’s Berry Delightful Smoothies, plus a flagon of orange juice, a cup of Earl Grey, and a glass of milk.
Hi, Saskfan, Doc, Sojo & MontanaLady!Saskfan or Grog - I’d have to look up the Celcuis to Farenheit conversion formula, but off the top of my head, I think we’re supposed to have temps like that tomorrow or Wednesday here. Wednesday night actual temp is expected to get to -1°F, and then add in 20-30 mph winds, with gusts up to 40mph. I don’t think I want to figure out what that comes to for a wind chill!
Sojo - Did you get much ice? My trees aren’t coated in ice, so we didn’t get much. I do need to walk out to the mail box before the mail carrier comes, so I’ll get a closer observation then.
Kab - I’m in that “east” section!
Sojo - They did say there would be a lull today, supposed to start getting something this evening, I hope it is snow, instead of freezing drizzle or ice.
Greetings (I sound like Uncle Sam) Kab, Sojo, Rmom, Grog, Montana Lady
Made it out to walk at the Community Center without a problem…28° Mist, roads fine, railing have ice that wipes off at 11:40 a.m. cst I am astounded that they are now predicting our county to be in a narrow band that may get 19 to 21 inches of snow!!! I cannot imagine that with lows of -12. We are now in for the duration.
We are promised that this is not an Ice eventRmom Weather people are saying this kind of storm could close I-70. We are 15 miles south of I-70 and are not going anywhere anyway!
Good Morning HopeandJoy♫ - Sounds like your area hit the jackpot. Hope everythig goes okay there. I’ll be watching the news at noon to see what their saying. We’ll get some and with the high winds predected could get a lot of drifting but Witchita looks like it will just miss the heavy snow.
Sojo It looks so narrow that if it goes 50 miles toward KC or drops further south and east, then we could get away with only 8-12.
Our schools are closing at noon as a precaution but I think they would be o.k. to stay open later except for the kids in the distant country getting home later
HopeandJoy♫ - Every bit of good news helps. In a couple of days we can look back and see what happened. Too often when a lot was predicted nothing happened and when nothing was predicted a lot of snow came. I think the predictions are a lot better now, but it doesn’t take much change to move the heavy snowfall to a different area than it looked like.

Hope&Joy - Sojo is right about the snow predictions. Just a little difference in where the band hits makes a big difference. I’m glad you don’t need to go anywhere for a few days!
I just walked out to the mailbox and noticed that the van’s windshields have a thin coat of ice. Since my hubby took the car with all-wheel drive, I guess I’ll drive my old mini-van tonight, as it is also all-wheel drive. Sir Lew, for a gentleman such as yourself the proper course of action is not to engage the enemy in a snowball fight. The first thing to do is to gain entry to a residence or location that is not your own. Then you are to don a mask of a political person, pick up your water balloons and fire from your superior position.
Home from work and I’m thinking about staying home from pool league also. The warm house sure is nice compared to trekking out in the cold (23°, but feels like 8°)!
I would prefer the cold temps to the snow. It’s much easier to drive through or walk through. I just walked faster in Montreal when it was cold. It’s pretty hard to walk fast on snowy or icy surfaces though.
I guess I still haven’t lost the kid in me yet when it comes to snow. I like to watch it fall from the sky and see when the snow is first on the ground in the morning before it is walked or driven on. I like to play with my kids in the snow and to watch other kids playing in it, too. And driving or walking in it doesn’t phase me. Heck, I work on cars in the winter and have to push “dead” cars in and out of the shop when there is snow on the ground. I still like it.
Cold “hurts” the body as you get older and no, I don’t like ice on the ground.
I don’t go downtown to the big city of Chicago much at all. It’s not nearly as bad here in the smaller suburbs. They usually clean the walkways before it is all trampled into slush.
Hi everyone. I had planned to spend the day getting some things done. Did I? Not a chance. One of these days I’m just going to have to settle down and do stuff. But tomorrow is one of the greatest time savers.
Good bitter evening everyone. We dodge sorta a freezing misty from this morning. Now blowing wind and snow but streets are cleared.
*♫Hopeandjoy♪ thank you for a very nice flowers. Are those tulips? Nice reminder of what is forthcoming this spring.
After being home for awhile and a surprise. Local police office came asking if we knew our neighbor next to us north had been robbed. I was surprised. I told the officer before I left close to 5:25 there was a mini dark blue van. A woman in the driver seat. I told him I thought it was business. Not so sure now. Both couples work and I didn’t know if the hubby was home or not. Imagine during the day time. Wow.
Hi, tribe!
Just thought I’d pop in for a short visit. We had class tonight, thankfully, the roads weren’t bad - yet. We missed out on most of the ice, so I’m more hopeful about keeping power & internet. It will be interesting to see what happens overnight.
I won’t be on too long myself. Just finished another test for English. There is one for each unit of English terms.
I think I might be okay for Pronoun-Antecedent Agreement.
I’ve evan asked my daughter to help at times. We make a fairly good team. Plus I have asked a couple of ladies who knowns English. I do the work and they help me understand better.
I wonder how ♥Little Sister♥ is doing on classes.
For one paragraph I have asked instructor for Feburary there is a womens fair coming local convention. I will be helping at the booth for two days selling a product. I thought be good for describing the product and selling.
Good night all.
Lonewolf I was almost ready to end and try to study some on English. I am making headways until the final tests. Oh please I don’t want to take this class over. There I feel better.
You were talking about how much fun you have in the snow. That is great. Playing in the snow with your children. I hope you also made snowmen, angels. For me though I would be freezing.
You kinda gave me an idea if this comes up for an English topic not sure though. At least your topic is better then C&H did.
The snow has started falling here with BIG snow flakes. Very pretty. There talking up to 20 inches in some areas and as much as 24 around Lake Michigan. It’ll be snowing for the most part until wednesday!
Lonewolf Some of the most fun I had was when one of my brothers attached an old car seat( with metal on its underside) to the back of a lawn-type tractor and it was turned into a motorized sled for us. Chug-chug-Putt-putt
I remember when I was around 20 years old. A friend had a horse we tied a sled to with a rope. Had to hang on to the sled hard as the horse went from standing to a full gallop almost instantly. Stopping was a problem also as there was only about 5 feet of rope from the horse to the sled.
“I hate the Energizer Bunny commercials, and I hate them with a passion. It’s driving me insane, and it is annoying. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who feels this way. You can’t fool me with your lame battery commercials on television. You want to drive innocent people like me insane and steal from our pockets. Okay fine! So you have plans on dominating the market and the economy, but that’s only a cover up for your real goal,( Total World Domination ) isn’t it. Deny it all you want, I’m through being brainwashed by you. I don’t care what the POCTSA (Prevention Of Cruelty To Stuffed Animals) says……….”
Funny thing, when the horse started running the sled and I were airborn for a while. When he stopped it was hard to keep my head from … ummm … nevermind.

New England is getting it’s share of white.
FIRST COMMANDMENT!
Thou shalt not get in a snowball fight with eighth graders

Hello Lewreader - LOL
hopeandjoy2 almost 14 years ago
Hey, Lewreader New England is covered with the white stuff and this storm will bring more your way. Don’t see how you go anywhere, including out to your street. (Maybe that’s why Plods chose that name. We just aren’t used to it here in such quantities (I’m speaking for my part of Missourionly) and the drifts that the wind will bring will be “Interesting”
My nephew from DC is changing his flight from Wednesday to Friday as they gave him a free option to do that….they probably can’t go East anyway.

@Lewreader–is this a problem for you?

As of an hour ago NWS out of chicago has changed from a blizzard watch to a warning. 3PM Tues to 3PM Wed 12-18” are likely thoughout the area with white out conditions. Sounds like a character builder. Looks like I’ll be staying home Wed. I’ll be here if we don’t lose power. Ya’ll stay safe out west of me.

Is anyone ready for Spring yet?
George Arnold almost 14 years ago
I know I am!
Ooops! Premium Member almost 14 years ago
Sir Lew, for a gentleman such as yourself the proper course of action is not to engage the enemy in a snowball fight. The first thing to do is to gain entry to a residence or location that is not your own. Then you are to don a mask of a political person, pick up your water balloons and fire from your superior position.

Just needed to see Spring tulips again…a repeat picture.
Yes, we are under blizzard warning from 6a.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Mercy

It’ll be nice to see something other than a picture - but it’ll do for the moment.

Good evening, Tribesters!
Home from work and I’m thinking about staying home from pool league also. The warm house sure is nice compared to trekking out in the cold (23°, but feels like 8°)!

Hi, Grog & Doc.
Grog, I said I like Snow. I’m not all that crazy about the cold temps. LOL
GROG Premium Member almost 14 years ago
Hi & bye, Doc
GROG Premium Member almost 14 years ago
I would prefer the cold temps to the snow. It’s much easier to drive through or walk through. I just walked faster in Montreal when it was cold. It’s pretty hard to walk fast on snowy or icy surfaces though.
COWBOY7 almost 14 years ago
I guess I still haven’t lost the kid in me yet when it comes to snow. I like to watch it fall from the sky and see when the snow is first on the ground in the morning before it is walked or driven on. I like to play with my kids in the snow and to watch other kids playing in it, too. And driving or walking in it doesn’t phase me. Heck, I work on cars in the winter and have to push “dead” cars in and out of the shop when there is snow on the ground. I still like it. Cold “hurts” the body as you get older and no, I don’t like ice on the ground.

And the downtown streets were always a mess to get through after a storm.
COWBOY7 almost 14 years ago
I don’t go downtown to the big city of Chicago much at all. It’s not nearly as bad here in the smaller suburbs. They usually clean the walkways before it is all trampled into slush.
COWBOY7 almost 14 years ago
Whew! I got a little carried away on that one post! Sorry folks……

Hey, hey! Troy Palamalu won the Defensive player of the year award over Clay Matthews. I am glad it wasn’t a Green Bay player!
GROG Premium Member almost 14 years ago
I don’t think much of any Steeler though.
GROG Premium Member almost 14 years ago
Too bad. I think Maththews is a heck of a player. I think he’ll be even better than his old man.
LittleSister18 almost 14 years ago
Hi everyone :-) Do I care about either team in this years Superbowl…….No I don’t, but it still should be a good game.
GROG Premium Member almost 14 years ago
You can bet I won’t be cheering for the Steelers this week-end.
serenasakitty almost 14 years ago
Hi everyone. I had planned to spend the day getting some things done. Did I? Not a chance. One of these days I’m just going to have to settle down and do stuff. But tomorrow is one of the greatest time savers.
George Arnold almost 14 years ago
Hello ♥Little Sister♥ and serenasakitty!
I’ll be for Green Bay.
COWBOY7 almost 14 years ago
I would have to root for the Steelers even if I didn’t like them. Green Bay is to me what the Eagles, Giants and Deadskins are to you Grog!
George Arnold almost 14 years ago
My choice comes from childhood etc. and not from today’s teams.

Hi, Serena

It will be interesting to see what happens overnight.
hopeandjoy2 almost 14 years ago
Kab,Yes, they are tulips. I just needed something lovely to look at….also, if you click on the beautiful rose post I made earlier, you will see one.
Where’s the PINK BUNNY we are to beware of??

LittleSister18 almost 14 years ago
I’m doing okay in class. It’s a little bit difficult at times, but I have help when I need it.

Good Night ♥Kab♥.

At least your topic is better then C&H did.
kab2rb almost 14 years ago
Wichita called off class for tomorrow. If I saw right. Also others schools are closing.
COWBOY7 almost 14 years ago
Hi, Kab & Rmom.
The snow has started falling here with BIG snow flakes. Very pretty. There talking up to 20 inches in some areas and as much as 24 around Lake Michigan. It’ll be snowing for the most part until wednesday!
hopeandjoy2 almost 14 years ago
Lonewolf Some of the most fun I had was when one of my brothers attached an old car seat( with metal on its underside) to the back of a lawn-type tractor and it was turned into a motorized sled for us. Chug-chug-Putt-putt
George Arnold almost 14 years ago

“DIE YOU EVIL STUFFED BUNNY FROM HELL, DIE! DIE!”

Funny thing, when the horse started running the sled and I were airborn for a while. When he stopped it was hard to keep my head from … ummm … nevermind.
