You can tell when it’s “deep winter” around here. The local alfalfa farmers bring in the neighboring sheep herds to graze at the left over harvested alfalfa. It’s buried under a whole bunch of snow, and the sheep come and rototill the soil as they dig for the stems, and fertilize at the same time. Win-Win.

More likely sheared for wool and then returned to greener pastures to grow some more.
