If you limit appetite only to immediate geography, you miss a lot! My chowder is yummy. I might have some today, but I have another of my recipes in mind.
Such memories. A chowder is a chunky soup. Clam chowder is usally, but not always a milk base with potato chunks and clam bits. My mother would make oyster stew every Christmas eve (similar to clam chowder except with oysters instead). We all hated it – she was the only one who liked it! When we got old enough to have some money, we would buy her a tin of smoked oysters for her stocking, and the rest of us would eat something we liked.
