Looking at a house to buy, the agent pointed out the pool; as if it was the high point. I told him if I bought the house, first thing on the list was to fill that thing with dirt.
I love my pool. About 1/2 my neighbors have them. I never invite anyone to swim while I’m home (because I prefer privacy when undressed) but I have given permission to some while I’m on vacation (if it is swimming season).
I had a friend ask me once why I didn’t put in a pool as I was always over at their place swimming in theirs. My answer was why should I bother as I could use theirs whenever I wanted and they had two teenage boys to keep it clean and I didn’t. Luckily they were good friends and just laughed and continued to let me swim in their pool.
