I kind of assumed a car accident, since squirrels traditionally darted repeatedly in front of cars and sometimes lost. But he ate the squirrel? Owner’s fault for not having control of dog at all times. My dog would eat anything without me being there, and sometimes still does. You don’t know what I did my best to get out of her mouth this morning without getting it on my gloves or hands. We have had a poop bomber in the neighborhood for months. As the snow melts, new goodies are available.
My mini shar pei, Isabella, sniffed a dead squirrel once on a walk. She was RUINED for almost an ENTIRE DAY! She’s a little too human for her own good.:’(
Years ago our happiest-ever Border Collie chased and AAAHHHH! caught a squirrel. He tenderly brought the late squirrel, not a mark on it, up onto the deck and put it at our feet, looking up at us, for all the world saying, “Fix!!! Please FIX!!!!”

Judging from the shocked look on the therapist, I expect he is about to have him committed to the looney bin.

I just loved that gamy taste and chewy texture. But then there wasn’t any more of him to eat! I feel such a sense of loss!
