Those “dummies” are losing lives and limbs keeping us safe. I know it’s just humor, but still…

Ray C- You realize that this strip is from the reagan Era? As a Vet myself, the military is FILLED with idiots, dummies, and complete jackholes. Of every rank. Ask anyone who has ever put on a Uniform and they’ll tell you the same thing.

    It’s a JOKE!!! lighten up.

Yes they are putting their lives and limbs in peril. We all know that. it’s a comic strip for christ sake.

In this strip we see one of the most difficult obstacles to a great military conquest: reality.

Ray C. I’m a Vietnam vet and a military retiree. Trust me when I say my heart goes out to the men and women who are in harms way. They’re my brothers and sisters because I’ve been there and done that too and I’m bleeep proud of them. However, I have no problem saying that there are some in the military, unfortunately, higher up in the chain of command, who are total idiots and are just as responsible for the deaths of our troops as is the enemy. If you had been where I was, seen what I have seen and did what I was called to do you’d understand where I’m coming from. A lot of what we did was done in a stupid manner and some of it was a stupid thing to do no matter how it was done, but we did it anyway because we were told to and we followed orders. People died unnecessarily for that and those of us who were there still remember. Yes, this is just a cartoon, but it is a double edged cartoon with more than just superficial meaning.

jrbj- Thank you for your service. I too was in Vietnam and I too believe that there are idiots in charge some days. Let’s enjoy the cartoon and have a marvelous day.

Let the penguins get back to their eggs, before they turn into STINK BOMBS!

Thank you guys above for your service to this great country. Don’t forget that when Obama went to see the US troops, aka the “photo ops”, he let it be known that he was in the “enemy camp”. Nice to know your kids are being lead to their incosequential deaths by a blatantly filthy communist, who let it be known straight out that he is their ENEMY. As if that was news to us.

Yes, this is just a cartoon, but even as a kid, I knew that it was always a backward, left political cartoon. Breathed never failed to make it anything but, therefore, since it’s warranted, political comments are appropriate here.

Thanks, guys, for fighting in a nasty war for which you got very little gratitude and a lot of undeserved scorn for doing your job. It wasn’t the cartoon I objected to (and I do know that these are old re-runs), but that old oxymoron joke that implies that all soldiers are dumb. jrbj, I guess you’ve earned the right to say it, but I also have the right to object to the stereotype. Of course there are some dummies, but I work with military communications and the guys I’ve seen are very sharp. I don’t know many civilians who could hook up a satellite network of dozens of terminals and keep it running through jamming and atmospheric effects. Todays foot soldiers use complex communications equipment and follow protocols designed to foil jamming and eavesdropping. It’s not just “push-to-talk” anymore. Anyway, you have a right to tell your joke, but I react when I hear the people I work with being stereotyped as dumb.
