Funny how we all empathize and feel the same about something like this. You are right about Kleenex, shed tears when the shaggy dog in “For better or worse” died too.
I thought comic strips were supposed to make us laugh! This week has been a most lovely tribute to a beloved family pet. Very tasteful, very gut wrenching! Very nicely done!
I loved this storyline. Frank, Lady will be with the rest of our pets on the Rainbow Bridge waiting for us to make our trip to the afterlife. I lost my buddy of 16 years in 1995, he was a birthday present when I was 8. I think of him often. Toby was the first one to greet me when I came home on leave or a three day weekend and the last to tell me goodbye when I left. I’ve had other pets since then. Toby will always be in my heart.
well done Frank! How blessed we all are those of us lucky enough to be able to relate! I had never heard of the rainbow bridge until last year when our Evie passed. It made it so much easier for our little ones to say see you again rather than just goodbye.
Thank you for a beautiful series of strips this week, Frank. Today is the best of them all. Morgen has been gone for a year and three months now and I still check to see if I have his dish in the dishwasher. Please excuse me while I get some more kleenex.
I hate to hurt feelings here, but are you the first person ever to lose a dog? One tribute to your dog is fine, understandable—day after day seems a tad self-indulgent.
I loved the tribute to Lady, I lost Tina 20 years ago on Christmas Eve, she was my third child. You never forget, nor should you. Bye Lady, the fields and woods await.

Some of us obviously love our pets more than Andy. And yes, I am sure you did hurt feelings…

Just added this strip last night, and while not unsympathetic, I don’t get what is going on. Can someone give me a time-line about the dog going away?
