After some 50 plus years of fixing and repairing stuff, I have several boxes full of “hudnuts”. Those are parts and pieces left over that you couldn’t figure out where they went. Seems that most were not needed in the first place. (PS, I’m a retired Mechanical Engineer – maybe that was the problem!)
I work in a small engine shop and the stories I could tell you. I would say about half of the repair work I do is undoing what the owner did trying to fix a problem that was not there in the first place.
