The Boondocks by Aaron McGruder for February 04, 2010
Transcript:
Granddad: Happy Fourth, Huey. Huey: Whatever... I don't know what's more sad - the way we pretend we still live in a democracy, or the fact that we're all forced to sit and wait in fear for the next terrorist attack. Some holiday. Granddad: Okay, so...what did you want on your turkey burger? Huey: A little potassium iodide, thank you.
Unlike most strips that go into re-runs, Boondocks saves the original publication date (lower right corner of panel 2) and all you gotta do is figure out which year. Which can usually be done every week or two if you recognize the references to the political or entertainment news.
Why there are hardly any strips that re-run in sync with their original dates, I can’t imagine. What would be so hard about it? Calvin & Hobbes especially, but also Boondocks, often refer to the current season … and they’re way off.
