"P. Diddy on 'Larry King'..." TV: You see, Larry, politics is way too...political. I'm anti-politics. That's why what I'm doing is politically incorrect. But...getting young people to vote isn't incorrect...is it? Huh? Right. That's what I said. What? Okay, that's our show! I'd like to thank my guest, Sean "P. Diddy" combs.
No, I think it matters a great deal. Voting, whether it is in a local, state, or national election is pretty much the only influence most people can make upon their government. Damning the system, throwing up your hands, and giving up isn’t going to make things better. Maybe if voter turnout weren’t almost always at or near “record lows”, particularly in the primary elections to the presidency, we’d have better choices when it comes time to elect a President. Maybe if there were outrage over the power that corporations wield over candidates and elected officials, things would be different. That takes people interested in making their government better, not just willing to sit back and damn them all while the country slides into oblivion.
