That’s about right. It happens everywhere to public figures, they’re tried in the court of popular opinion fed by whatever the news media gives us and not all the facts.
Gaaah!! The first 10 minutes of every newscast will be the sensational lead up to and then the trial – if it actually happens , followed by trial trivia. Other news of national importance or interest will become ten second blips, quotes from pundits, and self-promotion from pols. All that will be sandwiched between expanded advertising, which will increase in price/second because of promised increase in viewer numbers. C’est rire
The question is, when the avalanche of condemning evidence is shown to the country as a whole, will any of the republicans summon enough backbone to uphold the rule of law?
If anyone recalls, on inauguration day, one of the major news outlets had a headline that the impeachment process has begun. If that isn’t telling nothing is.
That’s the way “The Donald” likes it. When you’re the consummate game show host with a jury of adoring millions who live just to gobble up trash TV, you’re guaranteed acquittal when it’s Court TV.
On CNN there is no trial, just presumption of guilt. Like starting right after the election that there is enough evidence for Russian collusion and repeating over and over that Trump will very soon be forced out of office. Mueller’s investigation after charging several Trump associates in an attempt to turn them into giving evidence, and not ending up with any real evidence. But CNN was certain of Trump’s demise and repeated it over and over. But it is no problem that Clinton paid a Russian for a fake dossier and then lied to the FISA Court about it. Or that Clinton’s Charity was just way to receive bribes from many places including Russia. Or that six months after the subpoena, none of the released emails had any mention of her Charity. Given how much Trump has been wire tapped and investigated and maligned by so-called whistle blowers in the past two years, and they still do not have enough evidence, one has to conclude that the investigation is a witch hunt. But they still continue because this is the only way they can win the election.
