A friend of my ex-wife used to visit now and then, but she wore a perfume that would give me a spliting headache. I always thought it would be the perfect weapon to drop on an enemy!!
A neighbor friend of my wife in her 70’s wears what I call “old lady’s perfume”. It’s heavy, overpowering, and I loathe it. Old women must have reduced sense of smell.
When I was young and into my early working years, smoking was common everywhere. As a result I had practically no olfactory sense. I could see why folks who lived then used heavier doses of perfume. About a year after smoking was banned from the office and from meetings I developed a sense of smell and am now quite sensitive to all odors (I especially enjoy smelling my wife’s cooking).
1) I find most perfumes to be obnoxious and none “delightful”, even when “faint”.
2) Persons who wear perfume, like those who paint themselves with “makeup”, are telling me that they dislike what they themselves are naturally.
3) Wearing perfume is like playing “music” without earphones. It fills everyone else’s space with your choice and allows them no opportunity (nose plugs"?) to avoid/escape it.
4) Some years ago in Sweden I occasionally encountered railway cars which were “no perfume”, just as there were “no smoking” cars. I thought that was wonderful. Alas, on my recent visits I have not seen any such, though smoking is forbidden even on outdoor platforms.

I’m thinking that’s a “no” vote.

I am severely allergic to most perfumes. People hate me but if I can smell it, you are wearing too much!

The smell of the vast majority of perfumes make me sick. If you don’t have sinus or allergy issues be grateful for that.

I knew some ladies who wore some toxic forms or simply too much. Occasionally I left ill.
