A great many thanks for all Bozo followers who bought a copy of my book “Whistling Down the Halls, The Times and Cartoons of America’s Original Pantomime Comic Strip Artist.” The book is 260 pages and covers works of Foxo Reardon from the early 1920s thru 1955. Just a note here to say that the book, which contains some 800 cartoons, including some 500 syndicated Bozo strips, would make a great Christmas gift. The book is available over the Internet from many sites, including amazon, walmart, booksamillion, Barnes and Noble, Bearmanor Media and others. Just enter the name of the book “Whistling Down the Halls” and the name of Foxo Reardon
Below is a brief excerpt from the book:
“The source of this book of cartoons is works of my father, both original and copies of newspaper clippings that were saved by him and that have been in my possession for many decades. Most of the clippings have in the ensuring years become discolored. Much of that has been removed by computer enhancement. The great majority of clippings were too ragged to include as whole works. Those, nevertheless, will be kept on compact discs for safe keeping. All of the works in this collection have been previously published in the Richmond (Va) Times Dispatch or through syndication with the exception of "Puddin’ X, a strip created by my father in the early 1940s….
“Foxo Reardon’s life was devoted to making people laugh, to making people smile, to making life just a little easier for them as they went through the grind of their daily lives. He wanted to share to what degree he could that zest for life that was his, a zest that was outwardly manifested as he whistled down the halls of the newspaper building. And there is little doubt that wherever he is today, he is still whistling down the halls.”
