Puck is so pitiful (why have you betrayed us?…..Ma’am? Compare with indignant Elvis and always wanting the facts, Lupin. I love those 3 carriers lined up on the back seat.

Well, now I know what my cat is saying when she cries all the way to the vet. (Love the term what in cat’s name.)

I wrote this strip back in May when we moved and I had to put the comic on break for two weeks (and wanted to explain to readers why). Sadly, this turned out to be very accurate, poor Puck was the most upset of the boys to be in the car! Elvis was very annoyed, and Lupin probably could have ridden in the front seat, ha! He was really curious and excited to be a part of things. But poor Puck, we feel so bad whenever we have to use the carriers. He is just not a fan.

My Yum Yum has been in her carrier ONCE. A screeching, hysterical, Siamese kitten is no fun when trying to go from point A to point B. We were on foot with her and were actually stopped by a policeman wondering if we had been abusing her.

And then when they get to the new place, they will be reporting on the huge rooms, the birds flying around and the squirrels running around in THEIR backyard.

The last time I helped my friend move her cats she used a dog cage to move all twelve cats. She seemed more stressed out than the cats.

I have to be tricky — the carrier comes out at least a week before it’s needed. (Funny thing, when they have to go back into the carrier to come home there’s no problem.)

My Mua used to howl and moan in his carrier. I had to take him to the vet’s by bus, so you can imagine the looks I got. No taxi would take a cat.

So… we have 8 cats to move about 5 hours as we move to a new home…they all hate to be in carriers, although a couple of them will ride outside them—one likes to be in the back window, another on my shoulder. Of course, they all vanish when a carrier comes into the house—even to go 10 minutes away to the vet. Not sure how they’re going to deal with several hours…anyone have ideas?

When I got out of the Navy in 1971, I drove from Norfolk, Virginia to San Francisco with a six-month-old baby and a cat. The cat cried when the car was moving and the baby cried when it stopped, so I drove 4,000 miles with one or the other howling in my ear. Years later, we made a four-hour move with five cats. They sang in close harmony all the way — my wife called them the Mormon Cat-er-nacle Choir.

Aww. I moved with my 5 cats 4 years ago, but a few at a time. This year, we all had to evacuate for 3 weeks due to a major forest fire. It took us 3 1/2 hours instead of 1 1/2, because we had to go way out of our way. Just my 5 cats and me in my little Corolla. I had my car prepacked, just in case, with cat food and treats, litter boxes, etc. And the carriers were ready. I had room for one small suitcase for myself. Thank God for my wonderful doctor who had an empty house next to hers, where we could safely stay as long as we needed. My cats were “singing” constantly, so I started singing with them. “Old McDonald had a farm, e-i-e-i-o.” I’ve found singing to stressed cats really help them calm down.

Uh huh. Trump the heck out of that here… my daughter, moving from Colorado to Arkansas in some sort of short, little black sporty car and eleven cats. She put them in the carriers, those that got along in the same carriers and the loners in seperate ones. Her seat back was forward, as was her seat. She couldn’t stop for food because she couldn’t eat in the car in front of the cats, and it was winter and couldn’t leave them alone in the cold, so she drove straight through. When she was close to her turn off, she read it wrong and thought she had another six miles to her turn and broke down in tears. Poor baby got to her home, unloaded her babies and slept for twelve hours straight. We fed the kitties and made the place good for her to wake up to. Poor kid. Poor kitties.

We would let our cats roam around while in the van. We didn’t give them food for a few hours, so they were never sick. They seemed to like to explore the car (which they were frequently on but rarely in).

Lupin: The People have gone insane.

My fellow reporters and I have been taken hostage by the people and put into “carriers”, where we have been riding FOREVER. Puck, what can you tell us?

Puck: I DO NOT CARE FOR THIS TURN OF EVENTS.

Elvis: THIS IS A GROSS VIOLATION OF OUR RIGHTS.

    Puck: NOT ONE BIT.

Woman: It’s OK boys! We’ll be at the new house soon. We’re sorry! We know you don’t like being in the car.

Lupin: CN News, ma’am. Can you define “soon”?

Puck: CN News ma’am. Why have you betrayed us? …Ma’am?

Elvis: WHAT IN CAT’S NAME IS A CAR?!!
