I don't doubt that the mice are capable, but is there any way we can help? Elvis: Puck, what can cats do? It's not like any of us can fight an owl... Maybe Tabitha. Tabitha: If only, Elvis. Natasha: No one is fighting anyone. The Golden Mouse prepared "a moment of chaos" to provide time to get a caught mouse to safety. And I've prepared this sweet cactus needle jacket! Agnes: Ooh! Violet: So pointy. Puck: What if something goes wrong? What if you need more than a moment? Lupin: Cool jacket! Natasha: I've got to stop you there, Puck. It's time. Beatrix: LETS GO! Baba Mouse: Oh, no. We're both staying right here so neither of us does anything foolish. Puck: Even a great plan needs a back up...

So much to love here. The fact the mice don’t want war; they want to rescue Alice. The wonderful expression on Beatrix’s face at being sidelined. The way Elvis makes a point of praising Beatrix’s work to make her feel better. Puck offering help. Tabitha totally frustrated at being indoors (I wondered at her absence). The wonderful jacket and then the last panel. What will happen next?!

A detail I missed. What are the mice stealing in the first panel? It shows up again but what is its purpose?

Elvis is so happy that Beatrix is safe with Baba he can’t contain himself. What the heck is Puck going to try ? Thursday can’t come fast enough for me. I, too, am awed that we can see such facial expressions in fur and feathers. Georgia, I don’t know how you do it, but you do.

Will Puck be the hero? Will Lupin get his very own pointy cactus needle jacket? (Actually, jacket+Lupin sounds like a dangerous combination – for Lupin) Will Beatrix discover her true parentage? Can’t wait to find out!
