Frame three is the answer you usually get, even when the small furry person knows exactly what you are saying. Cats just pretend they don’t understand.

It occurs to me that the only reason that Elvis remains a sympathetic character is because his obnoxiousness is a direct result of being overprotective of his friends.

Elvis is just anxious, not obnoxious. He has a exaggerated sense of his own responsibility. Lupin, the overly inquisitive baby of the cat family, is both deaf and apparently fearless. Poor Elvis is mostly a bundle of fears, bad combination.

LOVE THE PAWSHAKE in panel ten!! At least Lupin made a new friend even if Elvis made a new enemy since he no longer has Tommy to pick on!

I don’t find Elvis obnoxious at all. Certainly not as repulsive as Tabitha, with her boasting. Protecting Sir Figaro was right and proper, but outright boasting is not proper in any circumstances.

Elvis does have a tendency to hint at his own importance, but never gives the bully/thug impression I get from Tabitha.

@ Robin Harwood—Tabitha isn’t boasting. She is, as she stated, an alpha female, and having lived with a couple of those, I know they don’t boast or threaten. What they say they will do, they do. (Baba Mouse is also an alpha female—and a certain polydactyl kitten we know likely will be alpha)
