A Google search puts most of those dances in the 90s during Baba’s youth. The electric slide’s origin was earlier, but maybe it was popular in the 90s still or again. I went out dancing a few times in college in the 80s and I dated a guy briefly at the end of the 80s, beginning of the 90s who was into dancing, but after that pretty much the only dancing I did was at weddings or work Christmas parties. Of course I heard of the Macarena and I the electric slide might have come up at one of those weddings or Christmas parties, But I don’t remember the other two.
So is next week going to be dedicated to cleaning up before the people get home? Now that Baba is there they should be able to get it clean in no time. She will keep everyone focused on the task at hand.
And NOW it’s a party! …I’m just old enough to remember the Macarena playing at rollerskating rinks (although barely, and only in the context of “school field trips” or “kid’s birthday party”). It’s wonderful to see Baba Mouse having so much fun!
I love to see an appearance by Baba Mouse. OT but interesting: I always like to post these wonderful kitten rescue stories, here is one a friend sent to me from the Carolinas:
A cat in Scotland made the news today. Returned home after five years. Most of the time he was hanging around a prison, visiting inmates. But that’s NOT the extraordinary place he was found…
The last “sick move” I made was the notorious “Banana Peel”. It surely was no “Electric Slide” and absolutely no “Maaa-careen-a”, but a classical “Rump Shaker” and a good laugh for everyone “Tootsie me roll” along the banana peeled-floor. And it made me sick a little, I can tell ya!
For those new to BCN, you can find a kitten photo of Baba Mouse in the archives of the original BCN homepage. If you scroll down the page, Baba is the kitten being bottle fed by Winifred Quinn. Her baby blanket then is her kerchief, or babushka now.
Did a search engine on the Tootse Roll. It is a Hip Hop dance move from the group in 1994 called 69 Boyz. The dance is still popular today. Baba Mouse can still shake it-good for her.
I did not expect Baba to show up, but she is showing out. It looks like those moves are mostly straight from her mid-’90s heyday. Show those young cats how it was done!
Believe it or not, all I can do is a waltz. If you spin enough, you get by.
Since Alexandria was a baby, all I have wanted to do is Waltz with her at her wedding. But, of course, now she says she is never getting married…sure, stab me in the heart, kid.
My Ballet dancer son, Mac, has taken Character Dance classes. So when you see movies about 17th & 18th-century court/ballroom dancing, Mac can do that. In addition, he does a beautiful Coupé-jeté en tournant (one of my favorite ballet moves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6jlRF8-p0Q).
This has really been a fantastic story arc, with great plot & dialogue and incredible art.
This has been a BCN, Georgia Dunn Classic; destine to be remembered along with arcs like Bea’s arrival, Elvis getting lost outside at Christmas, and the Golden Mouse saga.
This reminded me. If you have a subscription to the Jacquie Lawrence card site, check out the Baba Yaga card in the Halloween cards. The house running with its chicken legs is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
Today is World Book Day. I know we are a community of readers. What book are you currently reading? What are some of your all time favorite books?
I’m currently in the middle of the CI Gamache mystery series with book 10, The Long Way Home. I picked up a copy of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak on sale today. It’s been on my “books to read before I die” shelf for awhile. I’ll most likely start on that one next.
My all time favorite books, the ones I have read until I’ve worn them out and had to replace them, are Little Men by Louisa May Alcott, The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams, and The Door Into Summer by Robert Heinlein.

Party on, Baba!
Cassia over 2 years ago
Ooh
She can dance
She can jive
Mad moves from all her 9 lives
Ooh, see Baba
Watch that scene
Digging the dancing f’line
Friday night and the lights are low
BPH is the place to go
Where Burt plays the right music
Getting in the swing
Hear Lupin’s ♫ ding-a-ling ♫
No one out-parties that guy
Night is young and the music’s high
With a bit of rock music
Beneath strobe lights’ shine
Baba can bust a move
And when she’s in the groove
She is a dance machine
Tart and sweet
Only seventy
Whoa, yeah!
Whips and daps
Feel the slaps from her thunder claps, oh yeah
She can dance
She can jive
Having the time of 9 lives
Ooh, she’s a pearl
Catch her scene
Digging the dancing f’line
Loving the dancing queen ❤️

ABBA: Dancing Queen (What else?)
Friday night and the Gang’s arrived
Puck and Lupin are ready to jive,
Even Elvis is smiling,
Everybody is fine
A night of fine revelry!
Everybody is having fun,
Sophie and Goldie show how it’s done,
Up on the Big Red Sofa,
It’s not hard to see
The best is yet to be!
And then she arrives!
…….
Baba the Dancing Queen,
With her moves,
Showing she still can groove!
Dancing Queen,
Timeless fun,
Showing us how it’s done!
Oh Yeah!
You can dance,
Still have have fire,
Kittens and cats all admire!
Lady Cat,
Makes the scene,
Baba’s the Dancing Queen!
…….
Cats and kitten and mice all see,
You have the moves and the way to be,
Show the Young Generation,
Everyone can have fun,
And you can show them how,
You let them know right now!
…….
Baba the Dancing Queen,
With her moves,
Showing she still can groove!
Dancing Queen,
Timeless fun,
Showing us how it’s done!
Oh Yeah!
You can dance,
Still have have fire,
Kittens and cats all admire!
Lady Cat,
Makes the scene,
Baba’s the Dancing Queen!
