A good bookworm doesn’t need a card catalogue. He or she knows the library intimately and knows exactly where to go to get the book that he or she needs.;D
Sometimes new ways are a PITA! Everything is made to be so easy….people don’t think for themselves anymore. I still like to hold a BOOK and read….can’t stand to read on a tablet or iPad! BOO HISS! Its no wonder these generations are so spoiled and lazy! They want everything at their finger tips!!!!! Sad
I own over 1000 books, even though I just purged a bunch. I have a rough, very rough, system that makes it relatively easy for me to find what I’m looking for, but impossible for anyone else. I like it that way :) Screwy decimal system is my new name for this “system” Thanks, Dan!!! :)
These days it seems I spend more time using Google Scholar more than anything else. Navigating the collection of libraries at my uni for grad school sometimes seems like a screwy decimal system!

My local library refuses to stock how-to books about suicide.
They used to, but they were never returned.

I’m told that literal card catalogs are now a thing of the distant past. The books are next.

At least it’s still better than the Huey Hexadecimal System.

By using my library as a pick up an on hold service, I get books from across the country! With C19, they even bring it to my car.
