It always struck me as odd that so many leaders of the Christian faith didn’t seem compelled to model themselves on Jesus and his teachings. Of course we don’t know for sure, having only here-say evidence of how he actually lived (I guess it is possible that he could have worn diamond rings and gold chains, lived in a mansion, and rode everywhere in a cushioned chariot), but it does seem doubtful.
