Every time Alpha Centauri is mentioned, I think of the
campy Sci-Fi TV series “Lost In Space” (1965-1968). Let’s hope in 21st century (or beyond) when we do send a family to Alpha Centauri, it never happens.
One day, we will look up into the sky at night and see Starbucks after Starbucks after Starbucks. And then we will kill ourselves.
Brighter note: Dr. Mel’s main point was already covered by the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, which specifically states that space is big. Really, really big.
Josh and Dora D: Remember to watch out for Giant Carrot People! (That was THE worst episode of that dumb show. And to think CBS turned down STAR TREK for that)

It seems mankind moves faster than light, if it only takes dozens of years.

Always this strip is one of my faves! I too love the science and silliness being combined.

When light reaches Uranus you’ll wish it hadn’t.

Starbucks may be replaced by Galaxybucks. Or, using the name for a large group of galaxies, Clusterbucks. That sounds a bit risque, though.

jtpozonel and Trebor39: There can’t be any Uranus jokes when we’re talking about sunlight, because that’s where the sun don’t shine.
