It can happen on Earth if you “ring” together 2 perfectly level, polished metal surfaces. Ringing is a term to connect metal reference cubes for measurements in calibration.

You don’t need to be in space to cold weld some steels in aluminum alloys as well as other metals.

Maybe they weren’t playing Twister. Maybe they were playing Connect-Four.

Looks like a bad case of either “Spin welding” or “Friction Welding” gone all wrong….Better check it out with the A.W.S…..

Could be "Stir Welding’ also…from all that time on the space station…stir crazy….

He did not say that they were inside the station. He said that they were playing ‘IN’ space.
