A common comedic theme (especially in earlier movies) was the pie fight. There’s always this one person who walks right through the middle of it, baked goods whizzing past his ears, and he never once gets touched, while everyone else is dripping head to toe in frosting, chocolate sauce and fruit filling.
This actually happened to me once in college. A food fight broke out in the cafeteria between two tables, with me sitting in between. I had just come off a long shift working in the dish room. I was hot, tired, hungry and just plain didn’t care. There was food flying back and forth, inches from my face, and I never once got touched with any of it. I just went on eating my dinner like they weren’t even there. It might even have been funny if I hadn’t been in such a grouchy mood.
I can understand Brewster wanting to do this, but I thought Cliff would rather eat all the food he can get. Or is he undignified enough to eat off the floor?
Anyway, I’ve never known grown-ups to have food fights, so Kenny must be less mature than I thought.

With so many millions starving in the world, is a food-fight really so amusing?
