My old cable company had an office with a bunch of nerds handling things on their computers. I could walk in during business hours and ask them to fix stuff. Sadly they got bought by a huge corporation who, when you call, says “Your call is very important to us and we will be with you in a few moments.” That repeats for at least 45 minutes before I give up.
My bank has varied between a few minutes on hold and over an hour. The operator when I finally got through on the >60 minutes wait call, thought it was funny I had waited that long.
A former bank, I rang the bank and then got put through to a department of the bank that closed while I was on hold. I only found out when after 40 minutes of being told how they had ‘high call volume and my call was important to them’, someone answered and asked why I was ringing when they were shut.
Yet another bank, stopped my card when I was overseas. I had a pay as you go phone, and ran out of credit in the call as I was on hold so long, followed by the lengthy process of verifying who I was.
This happened to me 2 days ago. I outlasted the dirge music and the tech finally answered. I do wonder where they find a single piece of horrible music that last 30 minutes.

Some companies have a feature where you can choose to have them call you back. This would seem to be a good time to use that feature, if available.

For obvious reasons the ISS cannot get cable TV. It is possible to watch TV on the ISS digital air TV direct from NASA.
