A “D” isn’t too hard to change to a “B” is you have a color matching ink pen.
My mother was foreign and didn’t understand the grading system. When I got an “F” on my report card, she asked me if that meant “FLUNK” I told her it meant “FINE”. When I got a B, she asked if that meant “BAD” I came up with – no, it means “BETTER”
