I once took a nostalgic trip back to a place I had lived 25 years before. My first response was “Where the hell did all these trees come from?”

“Poems are made by fools like me.

But only Broomie can make a tree."

well when your 1500 years old, 50 years is quite fast.

From a tiny seed, a mighty ache grows.

A tree trunk that big in 50 years?

I remember when the Detroit Free Press began running Broom Hilda. I may have seen her plant that tree!

Broomie’s the only one I can think of who might think of a 1500 year old sequoia as a peer.

I sometimes wonder if the Elm I nursed from twig to adulthood is still thriving where I left it 23 years ago.

Makes me wonder about a few of the trees I plated.

She’s barking up the wrong tree.
