Wouldn’t that be 1000 centuries? I guess dogs aren’t that good at math.

    10 centuries is 1000 years, not 100,000.

Buckles need a basic math class, 100,000 years is 1000 centuries.

Come on, Paul! Don’t be such a stick in the mud! If you really love Buckles, let him on the couch!

Dogs were domesticated about 30,000 years ago, but who is counting? It was one of the best relationships humans ever developed. I would definitely let Buckles on the sofa. Why miss cuddle time?

Last night around midnight I let my dog out for last call, using a long lead. Across the street I saw a wild animal against the neighbor’s garage door. At first I was thinking squirrel, but I never see them that late at night. Then I saw it walk – I am almost positive it was a skunk, and my dog was still seeking the “right spot.” I started to talk to the skunk – “Just move along, we aren’t any problem for you, my dog just needs a minute…” and it kept going until it was out of sight. We have had quite a few skunks in the neighborhood this year. Lots of neighbors feed the small prey for skunks. So far, they haven’t bothered me. We had a likely rabid skunk outside one morning a couple of years ago, walking in circles and certainly suffering. I called the police, and they seemed uninterested (on the non-emergency line) until I said I didn’t what was rabid and bit the skunk, but I sure didn’t like seeing the skunk suffer and really hoped it didn’t bite anyone. It was picked up within an hour. Poor thing. My dog did what she needed to do and came right in. I suspect, given the opportunity, she would try to make friends with a skunk. She tried with the wild turkeys. Thus, always on a leash outside here.

A century is 100 years, so 100,000 years is 1,000 centuries.
