I never gave a thought to it when I put a leather collar on my dog when I got her 6 years ago. She still uses it. My hands cannot click on and off the usual kind, so I need one with a buckle. It also has a small brass plate with my info on it in case she gets lost. I don’t leave a collar on my dog unless we are going out. She has never tried to eat her leash, even though it’s sometimes drying on a hard floor after a long walk in the rain or snow. Obviously it’s not made of rabbit skin as she might want that, being a rabbit hunter before I adopted her.
