I don’t get it……Buni could have riden the thing himself, with an empty back seat. Maybe he could even have given Bunigirl a ride.

I know all sorts of people who ride tandems (myself and my wife included, hence the moniker). Riding one with an empty back seat IS possible, but the thing feels and handles oddly.
