We surely will reach all this in next live, it’s promised to us and I hope so!
But I must say, a little bit from it, would also be good in this live and we should try hard to reach a bit!! When everyone tries and helps, perhaps it will get better!
My granddaughter at 3 almost 4 years old feels the same way. She’s still confused with the whole be kind to animals because they have feelings and are our friends, except when we want to eat them. I’m working on the whole we’re animals and animals eat other animals to survive angle. When Dad tried to talk about it further she said she understood but didn’t want to think about it otherwise she’ll get sick. I told her we all feel the same way!
Everything we eat is alive or was recently. There is no other source of protein. Simple fact of life. Calvin’s idea of having fewer people and animals won’t change this fact.
If I were king of the World
Every day would be the First day of Spring
Every heart would have a new song to sing
Get rid of poison ivy
Eliminate mosquitoes
All water would be potable or turn to wine on command
It would only rain 2-4 AM
It would only snow Christmas eve, eleventeen feet
The snow would melt New Tears Eve day before drunks
St Patrick’s day would be an international day of spirit
March 18th would be a national day of recovery
You would mail your money to Sunny Bay Bank #836563
Lady Gaga would never come to town again
Good Morning to you all. And may you all have a great day ahead of you. And as far as Calvin goes. I figure if he had a say in it we’d all be carrying Stuffed Tigers around with us. Which I think would be OK as long as we didn’t have to talk to them all day long. Have a good day now. See ya all around like a bunch of donuts.
Live animals aren’t the only source of protein, nuts, milk, beans, soy, etc.
If humans would cease to exist tomorrow at 8AM, the world…scratch that…the universe would immediately begin to recover and every other form of life would prosper based on the survival laws of nature. Mother Nature bats last and has never lost an inning!
The consensus seems to be that there are too many people in the world vis-a-vis the available resources. In the absence of volunteers for extinction, consider the logic of assigning each geophysical area a population limit based on the area’s life-supporting resources. But this would mean that contraception, including abortion, would have to be readily available, would it not? So opposition to contraception is therefore a vote in favor of overpopulation.
An observation here: the Gospel, in its most basic conceptual form is that something has to die in order for something else to live. As the world eats in order to live, the Gospel is being proclaimed all over it, regardless of whether or not this is being recognized.
Calvin, where did you get the idea that the world was designed? Or that the number of people and animals in the world has anything to do with the fact that they prey on each other?
Somewhere in this universe maybe there’s a world where species evolved that don’t prey on each other – although Spaceman Spiff is pretty well traveled, and I don’t think he ever found it …
Lewreader: Can we change wine for beer in number 3? It would go better with number 7! Nothing like a nice pint o’ ale! Especially as we be only a few short minutes away from Talk like a Pirate Day! AAr!
By the way. We have seen Calvin the pirate, Calvin the scientist, AND Calvin the philosopher in the last 3 days. He is a boy of many talents and personalities!
paullp, what makes you think it wasn’t designed? Me, I don’t have sufficient data to assume either way, and to the best of my understanding, neither does anyone else on this planet (including you).
You’re right: there isn’t data to prove or disprove the question of whether the earth was designed; in scientific terms, it is an untestable proposition. I accept the findings of science in the matter of how the earth was formed and how long it took, and I reject the non-scientific explanations offered by various religions (except as they’re worth studying as literature) and psuedo-scientists. Is it possible that some power or entity actually created the earth from a design? Anything is possible, but based on what we know and can know, I choose to accept the scientific over the supernatural. Let me repeat that last part, because it is the answer to your question: I choose to accept the scientific over the supernatural.

Absolutely incredible. What could they have been thinking of ?

They were trying to cram as many living things onto the planet as possible. Besides, having just salt and water to eat is pretty dull.
