I like being a parent, but my Calvin is a little tamer (well, aside from nearly causing an electrical fire with one of his inventions yesterday).

I also wonder if Sheik’s okay.

Some time ago, someone published a URL that directed to a site that had every Calvin/Hobbes strip since the beginning. I was using it quite regularly. It was fun going back to the beginning of C/H. For some reason that URL is no longer available. Anybody know what the new URL is, if there is one? The old one was http://www.marcellosendos.ch/_old/comics/ch/

twypsi- you can even just use this site. Just use the calendar to go back to any date between Nov 18, 1995 and Dec 31, 1995. At least, it worked for me a few days ago when I tried it.

@davidf42 - I’d love it if they’d start the “Annie” reruns back about 60 years ago, when I started reading it in the Chicago Tribune. I miss Punjab and the Asp, and all the mystery associated with their activities (e.g., …travels with the genii; etc.)

    somebodyshort:

While squids DO live in saltwater, I don’t think your daughter would be able to keep one in a normal aquarium (unless she’s got one the size of, well, a public-viewing aquarium, if you know what I mean).

Here’s a little of what I found through Google:

1.) The average squid is around 2 feet long (but can grow longer than that).

2.) Giant squids can grow up to 43 feet long for females and 33 feet long for males.

3.) A Colossal Squid can grow up to 46 feet long.

Even just an average-sized, 2-foot long squid would need a ton of room to move around in … way more than what a regular (home-sized) aquarium can provide for them.

Hello painterplumber, nice to meet you.

No, Calvin really isn’t into reading, so we are usually busy doing other things. But I see that there are still at least 20,000 more comments available here, if we ever get the time.

Sometimes when Calvin and his parents are out of the house, I sneak over to the computer and check up on you guys.

    Hi Rachel

I’ll be spending Thanksgiving with Calvin’s family, and I may “get stuffed.”

    Or, I may “get real.”

It all depends on who is around at the time.

By the way, “Rachel” is one of my favorite names.

I also enjoy reading the classics: Hamlet….. Huckleberry Finn….. Don Quixote…… Walden…… Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons……

Yes, when I see those trucks, their drivers remind me of the time Moe stole Calvin’s favorite truck. But what really pains me is when I see those cars with tiger tails sticking out of their trunks.

Just to reiterate, the syndicate didn’t get the better of Watterson. He retired on his own terms because he wanted to. His interests had simply shifted. You can read all about that in the 10th Anniversary Book and The Complete Calvin and Hobbes introduction. Watterson still has a relationship with the syndicate, as evidenced by the fact that The Complete Calvin and Hobbes exists.

Dad seems to be a bit squid-squeamish! When he discovers what Calvin is doing, will he get ‘seesick’ (that is, if he can locate his glasses without stepping on them)? Otherwise, Dad might squint at the squid! With its ten arms, the squid could give Dad a big multi-hug. That would be sort of like thebird55 and his community smile face hug!

Somebodyshort: I don’t know if squid think like octopus, but octopus love to escape from tanks and can squeeze out of the tinniest cracks and crevices. If squids do the same, you might wind up finding a dehydrated squid on your floor and one very upset little girl, so I’d suggest you keep to finny fish and visit the exotic ones at the Aquarium.
