You have to defend against them like Bogarts, imagine them in a humorous, embarrassing condition.

The monster would be happier and less threatening if he could get a manicure.

Looks like Calvin could use a Vulcan mind meld to convince him that monsters are not real.

One of those disturbing realities of life — what if a monster’s existence doesn’t depend on our thinking about it?

PT: Mark Twain revisited; the monsters deserve Calvin. Wonder how much they would pay for his mother to take him.

Calvin hollers to Mom just because he’s in mortal danger. He should wait until it’s life threatening. Mom can’t come running for every little thing! :o)

Nope that just doesn’t work, Calvin. I’m almost 80 years old and I still can’t shut out monsters at night. But now they are called Wall Street, Foreclosures, the National debt, and election day.

What is it with kids seeing monsters in the dark? I had the same problem. Is it over imagination or what?

Unfortunately, the monsters that live in the reality around us are much scarier than the monsters in our dreams and imaginations!

I just remembered a Robert Sheckley short story where the heroes were in a similar condition. They hid under the blankets until dawn.

Hey Calvin, I found that sometimes you just have to give the monsters a High Five. In the face. With a baseball bat. Go get em

This reminds me of Calvin’s fear that God may be a gigantic chicken. The monster under his bed seems to be some kind of vengeful chicken as well, if the claws are any indication. Maybe Mom cooks a lot of poultry.
