Hey guys, I’m going to school in 2 days, so I might not be commenting as much. But this doesn’t mean I won’t comment anymore. I am not leaving Calvin and Hobbes or any other comic that I usually read.
@torn newspaper: Are you the same 11-year-old who went under the name of “snoop(something or other”)? If so, I hope your leg is better and good luck in school.
@torn newspaper, Kab Buch, and others: Good luck in school this fall. My summer is winding down and I’ll also be commenting less beginning this week, due to a new time commitment. I’ll still be posting some comic strips periodically.Click here: Peanuts (November 16, 1980)
@TheSkulker: Never fear. I do remember a lot of the strips, and with Peanuts, I often remember the approximate time frame; but no, I don’t remember the exact dates. I have my own searchable data that I’ve built up over the years on my computer, consisting of key words together with the date for each strip. Whenever I see a strip that I like, I save the information. If I remember a specific strip, including some of the text, I can often find it almost immediately using a computer search. But if I’m just searching for any strip that happens to fit the theme of the day, even though I don’t remember it, that can take a lot longer. After I locate the data for a particular strip, that gives me the date, which I then use to locate the strip on GoComics. Then I post the strip here using the GoComics link. Today was easy, because I remembered the Lucy and Charlie Brown strip. I didn’t remember the Snoopy strip, but I found it by searching for the word “scratch.”
New insight into an old song: the more you itch, the more you (usually) scratch. Don’t know any songs about mind over matter. Never mind. Doesn’t matter.
I’ve tried to ignore an itch. Why is it that it just won’t stop itching until you scratch it. It just won’t!Thanks again Hobbes – will watch for the strips you can give us.To all starting the school year – study hard and have fun.
I’ve been reading and enjoying all your comments for years, so I thought I’d better join since iGoogle is leaving — I get C&H on my home page every morning. IMO it’s the best comic strip EVER — no one has ever come close.
For years I suffered from facial excema that itched like temptation. I learned to smack the skin smartly next to the itchy patch instead of scratching till it bled. It would stop the itch for a few minutes. This didn’t help when I was asleep, though. You can scratch in your sleep and not even know it.After years of doctors and cortisone creams that didn’t really help, and did scar the skin, I found a cure: one of my students is an estheticienne (skin consultant) to the kind of people who get their photos in Hello magazine. She brought me a sample bottle of one of her skin creams that cleared it up in two weeks. I googled the product name; it comes from some Paris “spa” and is so expensive they don’t offer it online. Curiously enough, her name is Consuelo, which means “comfort.” Indeed.Gracias, Consuelo.

Kinda looks like the feelings one gets when refraining, and then giving in, to using credit cards.

Scratch till you bleed, and then scratch off the scabs. Helps keep iron overload at bay.

Diphenhydramine (benedryl) blocks the histamine and stops the itch. Use topically or internally.
