The trouble with doing nothing is you never know when you’re done.

Shelley Berman once said that if you’re just staring out to space and someone challenges you for just doing nothing, you can reply simply, “I’m creating.”

While I was very young, my mother sometimes asked “What are you doing?”, and I answered “I’m doing nothing.” She usually said “Then you can help me with …”, and I never got it across that I didn’t answer “I’m not doing anything.”

This isn’t unusual for Watterson, but the last panel is beautiful.

Today’s strip owes something to Pogo, particularly the last panel.

In a later strip Calvin tells his mom that he has nothing to do. She tells him he can help her with the housework but he replies “I was boasting.”

I can’t remember that far back. The farthest I can go is “bored”.

You can get the best nothing moment only if you live in the countryside.

Have to add…She asked, “What are you doing?”I answered, “Nothing”.She replied, “But you did that yesterday.”I set her straight, “Yeah, but I didn’t finish”
