It’s 1987 and your Dad hasn’t bought a VCR, what are the chances for a ski lift?

Calvin should be able to tell when he’s father is being sarcastic by now.

I liked sledding as a kid and I would have appreciated a ski lift too!

At six years old that mountain is probably about three feet high

There’s a hill in their backyard? I always thought he was going somewhere else for the sledding.

You need more exercise if a hill ‘in your back yard’ is too much to climb.

In Dad’s mind, walking uphill in the snow builds character.

He thought about it, and he laughed and laughed…. ;)

Calvin could just install a jet engine on the toboggan so he wouldn’t need a ski lift to go back uphill.

It’s New Year’s Eve’s Eve!

It would take an act of Congress to get the ski lift built!

Although it is already taxing for Calvin to pull his toboggan up the hill, he has no idea how bad it’ll (another contraction) be if it becomes a “gov’t (still another) project”…

Today, he would fuss until he got a snowmobile.

That’s code for “No, I haven’t. Now go away, kid”
