On Saturdays the bed has special powers.

It sometimes tries to do that during the work week, too!

No sense in battling a bed trying to swallow you.

My dad would stand next to the bed and nudge the mattress with his knees, droning, “Get up…get up…get up…” Somehow the joggling was worse than being hauled bodily from the blankets. You leapt out of bed just to get him to stop.

I have mornings like that.

Most mornings, actually.

OK, all mornings.

Is Hobbes inside that sheet? It would be like him.

Same thing happened to me tomorrow :)

Man, that’s exactly how I feel each day…

I can relate. Bed, take me back.

My Parris Island drill instructor had an effective means of dealing with that situation.

Luckily most days I can get up when I’m good and ready but on the days I must get up, this is exactly what happens!

Buy new bedsheets, Mom!

Sometimes after I wake up, I say to myself “I’ll just rest here for a couple of minutes, then get up.” An hour later, I’m saying the same thing…

Also, I don’t actually watch the series “Fresh off the Boat”, but I did see a scene where the mom, to get her son up, held his nose closed… And it worked! ☺

My mom would turn loose my dog, try to sleep with a happy, wunna play dog.

An uncooperative bed.

“Won’t you let me go down in my dreams,And rockabye sweet baby Calvin.”

That’s me but only on a weekend. I only get up early to go to the toilet and then snuggle back down again until past midday.

They’re going to be late for what? School doesn’t start for another month for Calvin, not to mention it’s on a Saturday!

//And again, we have to see one of Calvin’s parents bellowing at him. Groan…//

To be fair, my parents treated me like crap as a kid, which is one of the reasons I identified with the Calvin and Hobbes comics and collected the anthologies growing up.

Ever get that feeling when you wake up? Well, I do, when I wake up on the weekends, for some reason I just sit on the bed and wait. I actually don’t even know what for. I wake up in the middle in the night, I get out of bed instantly, strange, huh?
